Christina Applegate Hospitalized for Kidney Infection That Caused 'So Much Pain, I'm Screaming'
The actress shared that she's on IV antibiotics to treat an infection in her right kidney that since has spread to her leftNEED TO KNOW Christina Applegate shared that she's been hospitalized for an infection that's spread to both kidneys amid her ongoing struggle with multiple sclerosis Applegate said doctors intially wondered if she had a urinary tract infection and questioned her wiping technique Jokes aside, she admitted that she was a 'bag o'tears' and turned to the nurses for comfortChristina Applegate has been hospitalized for a kidney infection, which has since spread to both kidneys, causing her to be hospitalized with "so much pain" she said she's "screaming." The Married... With Children alum, 53, recorded the Tuesday, Aug. 5, episode of MeSsy, the podcast she co-hosts with Jamie-Lynn Sigler, from an L.A. hospital as she struggled with severe pain that made her feel like her appendix was bursting. While in Europe visiting family, Applegate said she began to feel unwell. On the flight back, however, she decided to go straight to the hospital, explaining she didn't want to wake up at 3 a.m. and need to run to the emergency room. 'I'm like, I wanna be admitted,' Applegate said, sharing her frustration with treatment during her multiple sclerosis struggle. She continued, 'I'm staying here because I want answers. I want every test that you can possibly think of or ones that you haven't even thought of, and I want them done.' The next day, she said, she woke up with an extreme pain on her right side. 'Of course, my brain's like, 'Oh, my appendix is bursting,' " Applegate recalled. The pain, she shared, was 'radiating' from the back to her front: 'So much pain. I'm screaming, and they ordered me an emergency CT at 2 in the morning,' she said, explaining that the scan showed she had a kidney infection — which has since spread to her left kidney as well. 'I'm just gonna be here,' she said, referring to her hospital stay and explaining, 'Because of this kidney infection, I have to have intravenous antibiotics right now. And that's where we're at.' The Dead to Me actress shared that doctors thought her condition could be a urinary tract infection, and questioned her wiping technique. 'Like, what am I back-wiping? Like, seriously, I'm 53,' she said, explaining that at a previous visit to the hospital, she'd been asked if she was wiping from front to back, as is recommended by doctors. Applegate said she has 'the cleanest vagina … I'm a clean girl down yonder.' Christina Applegate reveals daughter's 'knife to the heart comment' about MS battle
Married... With Children star Christina Applegate revealed the hurtful words her daughter, Sadie, said to her as she shared the realities of parenting with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Christina Applegate revealed her daughter is the reason she's 'still here and trying' after being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) - a condition that affects the brain and spinal cord. The actress, who was diagnosed with the condition in 2021, has been open about living with MS and recently shared the realities of parenting with it. The 53-year-old Dead To Me actress recently appeared on SiriusXM's Let's Talk Off Camera with Kelly Ripa podcast and discussed her changing relationship with 14-year-old daughter Sadie, who is the reason she's 'still here and trying. The star said: "I don't get up in the morning with that, I get up because of her. She's the reason I'm still here and trying." Christina then revealed the painful comment her daughter made when they got into an argument. The actress added: " But she did say to me, and we got into a big thing the other day, and sorry Sadie, but it has to be said. "She said, 'I missed who you were before you got sick'. That is just like a knife to the heart because I miss who I was before I got sick too." "Very much so. Every day of my life is such a loss. See, now I'm gonna cry. See, this is my problem. I'm either like extremely traumatic and crying, or I'm cracking myself up. So I'm never in between." Christina shares Sadie with her husband, Martyn LeNoble, whom she married in 2013. The Married... With Children star previously appeared on Jimmy Kimmel, where she admitted that her sense of humour helps her keep going. Jimmy said: "I learned from our text exchanges you have a very sick sense of humour," to which Christina replied: "It's how I live. It's how I keep myself okay." The show host added: "'I like it. I think that's good. I think that's the way to go for sure." She admitted she feels like her daughter is "losing her mum" as she knew her, and reminisced about their past together when they could dance, do library work together, and be more active including picking her up from school. The star admitted "it breaks me" as she explained she can no longer do the same things she once did effortlessly. She became emotional during the interview and said: "I'm sorry. I freak out about it every day." Christina said there were times she would be lying in bed due to her pain. "[My daughter will] come in the room, and if she sees that I'm laying on my side, she knows that she can't ask me to do anything," she said. "And that breaks me, breaks me. Because I love doing stuff for my kid. I love making her food. I love bringing it to her. I love all of it, and I just can't sometimes. But I try. I try." Last year, Christina revealed her daughter was diagnosed Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome, a condition that causes abnormally large increases in heart rate upon sitting up or standing.

Christina Applegate and Katey Sagal recall 'cynical' vibe on 'Married... With Children' set: 'Somebody's gonna talk s--- on you'
The fictional mother-daughter duo debriefed on the 'negativity' on set. With a sitcom as wry as Married... With Children, it's no surprise that the set was just as snarky behind the scenes. Married costars Katey Sagal and Christina Applegate recently spoke about their time working together on Sagal and husband Kurt Sutter's podcast Pie. The Dead to Me actress said she often felt like she didn't belong on the Married set because she wasn't into "sarcasm and s--- talking and negativity." Sagal agreed that there was a "cynical" vibe on set. "We were a sarcastic, cynical bunch," Sagal said. "You weren't safe, really. You turned your back, somebody's gonna talk s--- on you." Applegate recalled a moment when this happened after a scene. She had gone to her dressing room and heard people talking badly about her through a monitor in her trailer. "I was like, 'Wow, I was just there 20 seconds ago,'" she shared. On her own MeSsy podcast, Applegate previously discussed how Sagal was a "safe space" for her in the 11 years Married was on the air. She noted that her TV mom was recently sober when the show began, which was a comfort to Applegate. "You had lived a lot of life and a lot of scarring and things had taken place," Applegate told Sagal. "And now you were on that side of strength. And I needed that. I needed that so badly in my life, a stable person."Married followed the dysfunctional Bundy family including shoe-selling patriarch Al (Ed O'Neill), his lazy wife Peggy (Sagal), teen daughter Kelly (Applegate), and bumbling younger son Bud (David Faustino). Despite the apparent negativity on set, the Married cast has maintained a fond, familial relationship throughout the years. Applegate also had O'Neill on the MeSsy podcast last year and said he practically raised her. 'Years and years of my life spent with this man and he's an incredible actor," she said. "He's an incredible human being.' In 2022, Applegate reunited with Sagal and Faustino when she received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
