Two goalkeepers leave Newcastle as Odysseas Vlachodimos heads to Spain after Martin Dubravka joins Burnley
Newcastle United goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos is on his way to Spain to undergo a medical with Sevilla. The Greece international, who has yet to start a first-team game for the Magpies, arrived last summer from Nottingham Forest in part of the deal that took Elliot Anderson the other way. Newcastle have agreed a season-long loan with Sevilla for the 31-year-old. Vlochodimos will still have another two years left on his Newcastle contract if he returns to Tyneside next summer. Meanwhile, another Newcastle keeper Martin Dubravka, 36, has finalised his transfer to Burnley. Signing a one year deal, Dubravka said: 'I'm delighted to be here. 'It's a really exciting time to be joining this Club, ahead of our return to the Premier League. 'I've only heard really positive things about the club, the culture and the environment we work in, so I'm excited about getting going with the season kicking off next weekend.' He added: 'Burnley had a fantastic campaign last season, built on a superb defensive record, and I can't wait to come in and add my experience and quality to what looks an exciting squad of players. 'I'm really looking forward to playing for the club in front of our passionate fans.'

MARTIN Dubravka has told of his delight after completing his permanent move to Burnley. The goalkeeper has left Newcastle after seven-and-a-half years at the club, signing a one-year contract with the Clarets, and replacing James Trafford, who left for Manchester City. Dubravka will wear the No.1 shirt at Turf Moor. "I'm delighted to be here," said Dúbravka. "It's a really exciting time to be joining this club, ahead of our return to the Premier League. "I've only heard really positive things about the club, the culture and the environment we work in, so I'm excited about getting going with the season kicking off next weekend." "Burnley had a fantastic campaign last season, built on a superb defensive record, and I can't wait to come in and add my experience and quality to what looks an exciting squad of players. "I'm really looking forward to playing for the club in front of our passionate fans." Dubravka made 179 appearances for Newcastle after joining, initially on loan, in January 2018. He played a key role in last season's Carabao Cup triumph, making four appearances and keeping three clean sheets, including in each leg of the semi-final victory over Arsenal. He also featured 10 times during the last Premier League campaign, keeping five clean sheets to help the club achieve UEFA Champions League qualification. Newcastle said in a statement: "Everyone at the club would like to thank Martin for his efforts while with Newcastle United and wishes him well for the future." Odysseas Vlachodimos could also leave Newcastle this summer, with a loan move being lined up for the Greek goalkeeper. Aaron Ramsdale joined from Southampton last week and compete with Nick Pope for the gloves.

Burnley sign Newcastle goalkeeper Dubravka
Burnley have signed Slovakia goalkeeper Martin Dubravka from Newcastle United on a one-year contract, for an undisclosed fee. The 36-year-old initially joined the Magpies on loan from Sparta Prague in January 2018 and kept 51 clean sheets in 179 appearances in all competitions during his seven-and-a-half years at St James' Park. He played a key role in Newcastle's Carabao Cup win last season, keeping three clean sheets, including in each leg of the semi-final victory over Arsenal. Burnley had been looking to replace James Trafford, 22, who rejoined Manchester City in July in a deal which the Clarets say is a new record fee for a British goalkeeper. "I've only heard really positive things about the club, the culture and the environment we work in," Dubravka told Burnley's website. The Lancashire side were promoted to the Premier League after going on a 33-game unbeaten run in 2024-25 and reaching 100 points in the Championship. However, they just missed out on the title to Leeds United on goal difference. Dubravka added: "Burnley had a fantastic campaign last season, built on a superb defensive record, and I can't wait to come in and add my experience and quality to what looks an exciting squad of players."
