Marvel Tokon: Is It Game Over for Marvel vs. Capcom?
Marvel Rivals had been a huge win for Marvel Games, and ever since the release of the collection, fans have been hoping for a reveal of the next Marvel vs. Capcom game. As it turns out, we're getting a Marvel-themed fighting game in the same vein as MvC , but it will be a completely new series. Check out Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls : For context Arc System Works is behind fighting game titles like Guilty Gear and Dragon Ball FighterZ. By the looks of it, they've given the Marvel heroes of Tokon their own special anime spin, and we have fresh looks for characters like Captain America, Iron Man, and even Ms. Marvel. We don't know who else could be coming to the roster, but characters spotted in the background include Thor and Daredevil. The way previous Arc System games have also worked, it's possible that they could be releasing characters regularly in the form of DLC. A lot of fans have been wondering why Marvel vs. Capcom hasn't made any announcements despite the fan demand, but some speculate that it has something to do with Capcom not being pleased with the results of their latest MvC title Infinite which came out back in 2017. "it looks like Marvel Vs. Capcom 4, but due to international copyright laws, it's not." — Meester (@GoofTesticles) June 4, 2025 While some fans think that there's a chance for MvC in the future, it does look like Arc Sys has this in the bag. There's already a lot of hype for it, and I can't imagine anything Capcom could do at this point besides just do some crossover DLC with Tokon . Who knows, maybe MvC5 could happen, but Tokon is definitely going to have some implications on what happens with it. No specific release date has been announced for Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls , but we should expect the title to release sometime in 2026 for PC and PS5.

Arc System Works and Marvel are tag-teaming a new fighting game
Watching Captain America and Iron Man duke it out is nothing new, but they're not usually speaking Japanese. At Wednesday's State of Play, Arc System Works debuted a brand-new Marvel fighting game called Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls. Arc is known for its excellent fighting entries, and this game looks to be more of the same, featuring fan-favorite characters with a distinctive anime-like flair. Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls is a four-versus-four tag team fighter that's reminiscent of games like Marvel vs Capcom, with colorful characters, over-the-top abilities, and bouts set against vibrant stage backgrounds. While there aren't a lot of details yet, PlayStation Studios announced the game will release on PlayStation 5 and PC in 2026. Recommended Videos The trailer opens with Captain America and Iron Man preparing to duel, right alongside Cap's quip of, 'We're friends. Why do we keep doing this?' Other characters like Spider-Man, Dr. Doom, Storm, Star Lord, and several more also made an appearance. There's no word on the exact number of characters, but Arc says it will continue to announce more characters as the game's release nears. In a post-trailer interview, Michael Francisco, senior product development manager at Marvel Games, said 'PlayStation approached us with this vision to bring Marvel back to the forefront of the tag fighting genre.' With regard to working with Arc system works, Francisco said, 'It's always refreshing to work with a team that will take on the challenge of tackling Marvel and putting their own spin on it, and then just uppercutting that challenge into the stratosphere.' Arc System Works is known for critically-acclaimed franchises like Guilty Gear, BlazBlue, and more. The influence is clear in the trailer, whether it's from Captain America's coat that looks like it would be right at home on an anime superhero like All-Might or the Gundam/mecha-inspired twist on Iron Man's suit. A game pitting eight characters at once against each other is sure to have a spitfire roster. Due out in 2026, Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls is poised to bring superhero-focused fighters back into the spotlight.
