Choosing the right school shoes for your kids Kids wear school shoes a lot, so it's important they fit well and feel comfortable. Picking the right shoes can be tricky with so many options. Here are some simple tips: Length: Take the shoe's insole out, have your child stand on it, and leave about a thumb's width of space past their biggest toe for growing room. Width: Measure your child's foot width. Good shoe brands offer different widths, from narrow to extra wide. Fastening: Pick the type of straps or laces that are best for your child. For young children who are still learning to tie laces, velcro straps are ideal because they are simple to open and close. For older children who can tie their own shoes, laces are a great option. They improve the fit of the shoes. For younger girls, Mary Jane shoes with velcro are a good option because they're fashionable and comfortable. Runner-style shoes with velcro are good for boys who run and play a lot since they're comfy and quick to put on. Sole: Shoes should have rough soles with grooves to stop slipping while running and playing. Shop Stylo's latest collection of school shoes now! Visit your nearest Stylo store or check out their website to see the new collection. Get your child ready for school the easy way, with Stylo School Shoes! Don't miss out on the perfect fit and style that every kid will love.

These viral Amazon mesh flats look like Alaïa, feel like comfort, and cost under $50
If you happen to be a fashion lover who spends (way too much) time scrolling through TikTok for chic outfit ideas, you've likely spotted the viral mesh maryjane flats on your For You page. Available for just $50 on Amazon in classic shades like black, white, light brown, and red, the affordable shoe is a formidable dupe for the luxe Alaïa Mesh Ballet Flats, which is, by comparison, a total splurge at $950. As far as FashionTok is concerned, the buzzy mesh flats are worth every penny as they're surprisingly comfortable, aligned with the current trends, and are all but made for the total "it girl." In the name of journalism, I've decided to wear the flats non-stop for a week to see if they live up to the hype. Spoiler: I was pleasantly surprised. And for more of our rigorously tested shoe coverage, see our articles on the best flats and the best ballet flats. We even have a roundup of the best ballet sneakers, our other favorite quirky shoe trend. The mesh flat trend In case you haven't heard, mesh ballet flats have quietly become one of fashion's most consistent shoe trends. And though it might have been easy to write them off as a one-off fad a couple of years ago, it seems like they're here to stay. We can thank Alaïa—a French fashion house beloved by celebrities—for launching the crystal-studded ballerina flats that quickly reached cult status. Since then, they've dropped countless iterations of the beloved shoe, including a more minimalistic Mary Jane sans any sparkle. A few celebs have rocked the iconic Alaïa shoe, including Dua Lipa, Jennifer Lawrence, and Sofia Richie Grainge. Elsa Hosk and Kourtney Kardashian Barker are a few other fashion-forward celebs who've worn similar mesh styles in recent months, cementing the low-key silhouette as one to watch. The viral Amazon mesh flats Although I'm obsessed with Sofia Richie Grainge's chic style, I personally can't seem to swipe my card for flats worth nearly $1,000. That's where Amazon comes in with a near-exact dupe from Amazon brand DOEYG that's priced at just $49.99. But are they worth the coin? If you live in a metropolitan area, you can get them on Prime with one-day shipping, which is a total plus. And straight out of the box, I'm pretty impressed. Not only are the shoes well-packaged, but they seem pretty high-quality at first glance. To the touch, the mesh seems to be made from a sturdier cord, while the patent black leather isn't too "plasticy" or cheap-looking and is backed with a smooth faux leather. What's more, the brown sole is slightly cushioned and flexible, which seems promising for comfort. How they feel over a week of non-stop wear As a newly post-partum mom, comfort is key — though at the same time, I still want to feel put-together when I'm out and about. Over the last week, my stomping grounds weren't all that exciting: the grocery store, Target, and going on family walks with our dog. But these flats were seamlessly incorporated into my more understated wardrobe. The backs of the mesh flats (that usually make my ankles cut open) were soft and flexible, so I didn't experience any issues there. Typically, I wear a size 7.5 shoe, and while the size does fit, I do wish I had purchased an 8 for a slightly more comfortable fit. Those with wide feet should be especially wary as the shoe is on the narrow side. That being said, after consistent wear, I did notice that they've begun to loosen and "break in" a bit, making me content with my initial size. As for tips on styling the total closet staple, I've noticed that they are commonly paired with oversized denim for an effortless, cool girl vibe. Throughout the summer months, however, I'll mostly be wearing them with a breezy sundress or a linen midi skirt to tap the still-rising "old money" aesthetic. The verdict: Are they worth it? Overall, the viral mesh flats are certifiably comfortable for chill strolls and made for casual (yet slightly elevated) wear. While I didn't have any issues throughout the week, I will say that I likely wouldn't reach for them for long days of walking as the cushion can feel a bit hard after a while — but I think the same can be said about most flats as they tend to have little-to-no support in the soles. I'm definitely happy with the $50 spent and can see myself wearing them throughout summer and the upcoming fall months. And even if they do completely wear out within that time (I mean, it is an inexpensive Amazon dupe), I wouldn't mind repurchasing come next summer — though I haven't seen any alarming wear-and-tear just yet. The bottom line If you, like me, can't justify spending nearly a thousand dollars on flats, I highly recommend picking up a pair of these shoes for your summertime wardrobe. Not only are they affordable by comparison, but they are comfortable for everyday wear and an eye-catching choice that fits both understated and dressy outfits. As for my recommendations? While they may be closer to true-to-size for those who have narrow feet, if you are a bit wider, sizing up a half or full size should do the trick. What's more, I may think twice before wearing them ahead of any hours-long walking tours in a bustling city on unforgiving concrete. To be honest, dupes have their place and will (usually) never beat out the original before it. However, in this economy, I'm all for the girlies experimenting with their looks on the low. After a brief hiatus, ballet flats are back with a vengeance. This simple — yet seriously stylish — shoe is the perfect excuse to explore your ever-evolving style. Personally, I'll be wearing these all summer long, and even as my wardrobe transitions into my fave fall season.

I thought I'd bagged a bargain bookshelf on Temu but I was not prepared for what turned up – I'll never shop there again
A MUM who thought she had bagged a stylish bookshelf from Temu was left in stitches after a picture of the item turned up instead. Mary Jane had picked the product as part of a free giveaway on Advertisement 5 Mary Jane believed she was getting an actual piece of furniture when shopping on Temu Credit: Jam Press/Mary Jane 5 Little did she know she'd missed a key aspect of the item in the listing online Credit: Jam Press/Temu 5 The experience, albeit funny, has put Mary off using Temu again. Credit: Jam Press/Mary Jane But, instead of a metal frame with real shelves, she received a small, 2D-printed metal sign, which showed an image of a bookshelf. 'When I opened it, I just started laughing,' the 50-year-old told 'It took me a second to realise it wasn't a real shelf at all – just a flat tin sign with a picture printed on it. 'I genuinely thought it was a mistake at first, but then I looked back at the listing and saw it did say '2D'. Advertisement read more on homes 'I'd just completely missed it. 'It was so funny that I immediately grabbed my 'It looked so convincing in the picture – like it had depth and actual shelves. 'But when I held it up, it was thinner than a baking tray and completely useless.' Advertisement Most read in Fabulous Exclusive Mary says she normally checks item descriptions and sizes carefully, but had been rushing through the order to beat a countdown timer on Temu's free item promotion. The mum-of-three said: 'I didn't have time to look closely. The photos made it look like an actual bookshelf – something you'd put against the wall to hold books or plants. I bought two splash pads from Temu and TikTok shop for £9.99 for my kids to compare - one of them is HUGE for the price 'It wasn't until I had it in my hands that I realised it was just a decorative sign. I wasn't angry, just shocked it was that bad.' Temu offered Mary a replacement item if she returned the tin sign. Advertisement But the mum said the process was too much hassle for something she hadn't paid for in the first place. Mary, from Columbus, Ohio, said: 'It just wasn't worth it. 'I'd rather chalk it up to experience. 'They told me to post it back to get a replacement, but I thought – why am I spending time and effort returning a free tin plate I never wanted? Advertisement 'It was more trouble than it was worth. 'Yes, it said '2D' and gave dimensions, but the photos were very carefully done. Why is Temu so cheap? TEMU exploded onto the scene in late 2022, with people all over social media raving about the low prices. The company is a Chinese-owned digital marketplace - essentially an online shopping app where people are connected to the retailer directly while the app takes care of the shipping element. The frenzy over the app is not completely unfounded either as it offers a wide variety of products, including fashion, make-up, electronics and furniture. The loophole is called the de minimis exception and it means they can ship goods valued up to $800 (£643) to the US without it being inspected or taxed by US customs. Temu connects customers directly to manufacturers and only manages how the items are sent to customers. It means Chinese vendors can essentially sell their products directly to customers and ship it without building a network of warehouses across the globe. By doing this, they cut down on huge costs and ensure the product itself isn't marked up extra. While many of the products seen on the Temu app are from brands with extensive, original collections, many more are dupes of designer brands. 'They know how to make something look more than it is. 'I do think it's misleading.' Advertisement Similar items from Temu – hopefully the real deal – are listed on the retail site for around £70-£80. The experience, albeit funny, has put Mary off using Temu again. She added: 'I won't be ordering from them in future; I just don't trust it anymore. 'There are some decent things on there, but it's a gamble. Advertisement 'I just threw the item away. 'My advice to others is to slow down, read the full description and check the measurements. 'If you don't, you'll probably end up with something you didn't expect – and not in a good way.' Temu has been approached for comment.
