Bahrain's Maryam Al Dossary Elected President of WIPO's Paris Union Assembly
Maryam Abdulaziz Al Dossary, the Commercial Attaché at the Ministry of Industry and Commerce based at Bahrain's Permanent Mission in Geneva, has been elected President of the Paris Union Assembly under the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
This marks the first time Bahrain has ever held this position at WIPO, a significant milestone in the Kingdom's growing global influence in the field of intellectual property.
The Paris Union Assembly is the governing body for one of WIPO's oldest and most important treaties — the Paris Convention for the Protection of Industrial Property (1883). This treaty lays down the global standards for patents, trademarks, industrial designs, and other industrial property rights.
Al Dossary's election is seen as a historic achievement for Bahrain, positioning the country as a key player in international policymaking for industrial property. It also highlights the Kingdom's increasing recognition on the multilateral stage.
This leadership role reflects Bahrain's firm commitment to innovation, intellectual property rights protection, and international cooperation in industrial development.
