Ronwen Williams confident Sundowns can get out of group at Club World Cup
In a strong statement of intent, Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper Ronwen Williams believes they have what it takes to get out of their group at the 2025 Fifa Club World Cup in the US. The Brazilians are in Group F with Ulsan HD from South Korea, Borussia Dortmund and Fluminense from Brazil with matches taking lace in Orlando, Cincinnati and Miami respectively in the new format of the Club World Cup, which has been expanded from seven to 32 teams. Williams and his men start their campaign with a tricky clash against Ulsan at Inter & Co Stadium next week Wednesday where they will be looking for a good start before clashes against tougher Borussia and Brazilian outfit Fluminense. 'We believe we have enough to get out of the group, which will be huge for the club,' Williams said. We want to show people who Sundowns is at the competition.' Sundowns travelled to the US on the back of the Caf Champions League final to Egyptian side Pyramids FC. Williams said the Tshwane giants have put that disappointment behind them. 'We have used the recent few days of rest to reflect on the Champions League loss through our chats and most importantly it was important to stay away from each other because we played many games and travelled a lot this season. 'The past five days away from each other helped us to re-energise and get the spark back. It was devastating to take that defeat but we have to go again. We can't be mourning for too long, we have to be up for it because this is probably the biggest club competition. 'When we returned to training last week, you could see the energy and spark is back and those five days were good for us. It would have been perfect to wrap up the Champions League and go to the Club World Cup as continental champions. 'We could have gone with confidence but now we have to dig deep. It was probably the hardest defeat of my career and for the team because of how much we sacrificed and how hard we worked to get there. 'We said we would go all the way and do it but now we have to go back [to the drawing board] again. We have to lift ourselves, no-one is going to do it for us. 'While people are on holidays, we are on another flight and that is how amazing it is to be part of Sundowns because they are always looking at the next tournament.'

Kaizer Chiefs transfer news: Mbule, Salum, Mako, Saleng
After another tough season, Kaizer Chiefs will look to rebuild and sign more players under Tunisian coach Nasreddine Nabi. The team finished ninth in the Betway Premiership but managed to win the Nedbank Cup which was their first silverware in a decade. The club has been linked with a number of players including Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Sipho Mbule. The 27-year-old is a free agent after his contract was not extended by Masandawana. Mbule joined The Brazilians in 2022 from SuperSport United but failed to make his impact in the three years at the club. This past season, he was sent on loan to Sekhukhune United but disciplinary issues clouded his time at Babina Noko, leading to his contract being terminated prematurely. Mbule's agent Mika Makaab confirmed that the star was offered to Kaizer Chiefs 'Let me set the record straight. Sipho Mbule has been offered to Kaizer Chiefs. It is up to the club to make the decision, and we need to respect that decision,' he said. With Nabi looking to bolster his squad, the Tunisian coach has reportedly travelled to Egypt and Tanzania to look for quality players. One player that has been on his radar is Azam FC superstar Feisal Salum. The 27-year-old creative midfielder impressed for his country Tanzania when they played against Bafana Bafana last year. Another local player linked with Kaizer Chiefs is Paseko Mako. The defender was recently released by Orlando Pirates. The 27-year-old spent seven years with the Buccaneers earning over 100 appearances. Another Pirates star set to leave is Monnapule Saleng. The talented winger has not kicked a ball for the club since Decemeber 2024. African giants close in on Mamelodi Sundowns star Khuliso Mudau!
Mamelodi Sundowns could be set to lose on of their best players ahead of next season, according to reports. Sundowns have barely recovered from the heartache and pain of losing the CAF Champions League final to Pyramids FC. Now it looks like they may be set to see another rival on the continent pinch one of their top talents. This comes after yet another underwhelming season by their standards, where they failed to get over the line in the Champions League. Even though Sundowns won their eighth Betway Premiership title in a row, that was their only trophy yet again. Now as the squad seeks to go again for greener pastures, a rebuild may be necessitated. Already players such as Sipho Mbule and Rivaldo Coetzee have been released by he club. This after Sundowns made decided against exercising the option to renew their contracts for a further year. According to their agent Mike Makaab, the club made no indication they would take up the option. This allowing the deadline to lapse for them to exercise that option. Now, another player that will see his contract expire at the end of the season is Khuliso Mudau. The player has been a mainstay for Sundowns over the years, even for Bafana Bafana. He is also expected to go to the FIFA Club World Cup with the Brazilians. But now according to reports from Nessma in Tunisia, Esperance are in advanced talks to sign him! 'Again according to Nessma Sport, @EsperanceSTunis is in advanced negotiations with the South African right back of @Masandawana (Sundowns) Khuliso Mudau #Mercato #TarajiDawla' said Amin Taraji, a North African journalist. This is the same publication that claims Chiefs have made a bid for Elias Mokwana of Esperance. It now remains to be seen if they're accurate on Mudau leaving Sundowns for the Esperance. Masandawana, how would feel about this move? Let us know by clicking on the comment tab. Or by emailing info@ or sending a WhatsApp to 060 011 021 1. While Coetzee's quality was once enough for him to be a Bafana Bafana defender and nearly sign for Scottish giants Celtic, the 28 year-old has battled with injuries. The former Ajax Cape Town defender has also played more for Sundowns in midfield in recent times, and when Sundowns signed Jayden Adams in January, it left even less room for Coetzee in the Masandawana squad.
