African giants close in on Mamelodi Sundowns star Khuliso Mudau!
Mamelodi Sundowns could be set to lose on of their best players ahead of next season, according to reports.
Sundowns have barely recovered from the heartache and pain of losing the CAF Champions League final to Pyramids FC.
Now it looks like they may be set to see another rival on the continent pinch one of their top talents. This comes after yet another underwhelming season by their standards, where they failed to get over the line in the Champions League. Even though Sundowns won their eighth Betway Premiership title in a row, that was their only trophy yet again.
Now as the squad seeks to go again for greener pastures, a rebuild may be necessitated. Already players such as Sipho Mbule and Rivaldo Coetzee have been released by he club. This after Sundowns made decided against exercising the option to renew their contracts for a further year. According to their agent Mike Makaab, the club made no indication they would take up the option. This allowing the deadline to lapse for them to exercise that option.
Now, another player that will see his contract expire at the end of the season is Khuliso Mudau. The player has been a mainstay for Sundowns over the years, even for Bafana Bafana. He is also expected to go to the FIFA Club World Cup with the Brazilians. But now according to reports from Nessma in Tunisia, Esperance are in advanced talks to sign him!
'Again according to Nessma Sport,
@EsperanceSTunis is in advanced negotiations with the South African right back of @Masandawana (Sundowns) Khuliso Mudau #Mercato #TarajiDawla' said Amin Taraji, a North African journalist.
This is the same publication that claims Chiefs have made a bid for Elias Mokwana of Esperance. It now remains to be seen if they're accurate on Mudau leaving Sundowns for the Esperance. Bafana and Tanzania in dull goalless draw
Bafana Bafana were held to a 0-0 draw by Tanzania during their dull international friendly at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane on Friday night. Bafana coach Hugo Broos said the result is not important in this match but they will have to give an improved performance when they host Mozambique at the same venue on Tuesday. It was a match of few notable moments where Broos gave opportunities to Ricardo Goss, Deano van Rooyen, Thabo Moloisane, Kulumane Ndamane, Fawaaz Basadien, Simphiwe Selepe, Tshepang Moremi and Ashley Cupido in the starting line-up. Some of the Bafana ordinarily would not be considered but they benefited from the absence of their Mamelodi Sundowns counterparts who leaves at the weekend for the Fifa Club World Cup in the US. Broos left Sipho Chaine, Nyiko Mobbie, Nkosinathi Sibisi, Luke le Roux and Relebohile Mofokeng, who have been with the team in the recent past, to provide options in the second half.

Kaizer Chiefs set to snatch rising star Ime Okon from rivals
Kaizer Chiefs are reportedly closing in on a major signing ahead of the 2025/2026 season, with highly-rated defender Ime Okon believed to be on the brink of joining the Soweto giants. The 21-year-old's contract with SuperSport United ends this month, allowing him to leave as a free agent, and Chiefs have wasted no time in making their move. After lifting the Nedbank Cup, Amakhosi are determined to build a squad capable of challenging on all fronts under incoming coach Nasreddine Nabi. Okon, who has drawn attention with his physical presence and calmness on the ball, is understood to be a key piece in that puzzle. 'They (Kaizer Chiefs) see him (Ime Okon) as a long-term solution at centre-back. I mean, he is only 21 and he could challenge (Inacio) Miguel, who is almost 30, for that position. On top of that, his contract expires soon,' a source told The South African . Okon previously caught the eye of scouts abroad, having attended trials with Danish top-tier side FC Midtjylland and Ukrainian giants Dynamo Kyiv over the past 18 months. Despite impressing, no deal came to fruition, and he returned to see out his contract with Matsatsantsa. This presented Chiefs with a golden opportunity, and they appear poised to capitalise. Okon recently featured for Bafana Bafana in the COSAFA Cup. Which further strengthens his reputation as one of South Africa's most promising young centre-backs. His potential, youth, and international exposure make him an attractive prospect for a club eager to rebuild and restore glory. With negotiations believed to be at an advanced stage. And it looks increasingly likely that Okon will don the black and gold of Amakhosi next season. Will Okon be good enough to wear the Kaizer Chiefs jersey? Mamelodi Sundowns look set to part ways with two 'new' players in the coming days. Mamelodi Sundowns had an option to purchase him however reports suggest the club have passed on it. Furthermore, midfielder Kobamelo Kodisang will also reportedly be offloaded by the club. The winger is only one-year into his five-year contract at the club however coach Miguel Cardoso has deemed him surplus to requirements at Mamelodi Sundowns. 'There are off the field issues that the club has tried to deal with away from the public and that's why you didn't see him making the team towards the end of last season. From what I have been told, it looks like there's no way back for him and he will definitely leave Mamelodi Sundowns,' an insider told Citizen regarding Kodisang.
