Mass Women's Amateur final set as Shannon Johnson goes for her second title and Isabel Brozena aims for her first

Johnson, a North Easton resident who teamed up with Megan Buck to win the Mass. Golf Women's Four-ball for the sixth time earlier this year, is in the finals for a third time, after falling to Catie Schernecker in 2021 at Plymouth Country Club.
Johnson opened with a birdie on the first hole for a 1-up lead, but Florio tied it up with a par on No. 6, then took the lead with a birdie on the par-4 eighth.
Johnson tied it back up with a par on No. 12, Florio took the lead back on No. 13, and Johnson knotted it with a birdie on No. 14. Johnson secured a match-winning birdie on the par-5, 440-yard 16th hole.

Brozena, a former North Reading High star and rising sophomore at Xavier, took down Smith, the 2023 runner-up and a rising junior at Central Florida, by winning five times in a nine-hole stretch from No. 8 to No. 16.
The match was tied through seven holes when Brozena notched back-to-back birdies for a 2-up lead at the turn. Smith got one back with a birdie on No. 10, but Brozena won No. 11, No. 15, and No. 16, closing the match out with another set of back-to-back birdies.

Earlier Thursday, Johnson defeated Lillian Guleserian of Blue Hill CC 1-up, Florio beat Pine Brook's Rebecca Skoler 4-and-3, Smith topped George Wright GC's Phoebe Brinker 4-and-3, and Brozena took down 16-year-old Katilyn Doe of Needham GC, 2-and-1.
