Maniyanpilla Raju confirms producing Mohanlal-Krishand film
Veteran actor and producer Maniyanpilla Raju confirmed in a recent interview that he will be producing an upcoming film starring Mohanlal, to be directed by acclaimed filmmaker Krishand. The project, currently in development, has completed its first round of discussions. Krishand, a National Award-winning director, is best known for his critically lauded films like Aavasavyuham and Purusha Pretham. Speaking about their collaboration, Maniyanpilla Raju noted the growing popularity of Krishand among audiences aged 18 to 45, highlighting the filmmaker's strong resonance with contemporary viewers. He also added that Krishand is currently filming Masthishka Maranam, in which Raju's son, Niranj Maniyanpilla Raju, plays the lead. Additionally, Krishand's upcoming web series Sambhava Vivaranam Naalara Sangham, set to release on SonyLIV, also features Niranj in a prominent role. The new announcement comes at a time when Mohanlal's latest release Thudarum, in which Maniyanpilla Raju also plays a prominent role, continues to dominate the box office. The film is nearing its third week in theatres and remains a major draw for audiences. Meanwhile, the 4K and Dolby Atmos rerelease of Chotta Mumbai, also produced by Maniyanpilla Raju, has been postponed. Initially slated for May 21 on the occasion of Mohanlal's birthday, the rerelease has been pushed due to the continued theatrical success of Thudarum. The makers have not yet announced a new date.

Krishand's next film Masthishka Maranam announced, first-look posters unveiled
On Sunday, the upcoming Malayalam film Masthishka Maranam (A Frankenbiting of Simon's Memories) , written and directed by acclaimed filmmaker All We Imagine As Light actor Divya Prabha, Jagadish, Suresh Krishna, Ann Saleem, and Rahul Rajagopal. It also stars Nandu, Santhy Balachandran, Zhins Shan, Manoj Kana, Sreenath Babu, Anoop Mohandas, and Jain Andrews. Masthishka Maranam is produced by Vinayaka Ajith under the banner of Ajith Vijayaka Films, in association with Krishand Films. The two production houses previously collaborated on Arun Chandu's State Award-winning science fiction mockumentary . Meanwhile, Krishand's previous directorial Sangarsha Ghadana (The Art of Warfare) , which premiered at the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) in the Malayalam Cinema Today category in 2024, is awaiting a wider release. The Aavasavyuham director is also helming an upcoming web series for the streaming platform SonyLIV, titled Sambhava Vivaranam Naalara Sangham (The Chronicles of the 4.5 Gang) . Billed as a quirky gangster drama set in Thiruvananthapuram, the show features an ensemble cast including Darshana Rajendran, Zarin Shihab, Vishnu, Jagadish, Indrans, Santhy, and Hakkim Shahjahan, among others.

‘Masthishka Maranam': Krishand's next announced; first look out
Director Krishand is back and this time, he's helming a film titled Masthishka Maranam (A Frankenbiting of Simon's Memories). The makers of the film made the announcement on Sunday along with the film's first look posters. The cyberpunk-inspired first look images feature the actors in VR headsets and futuristic gear. While one of them featured Rajisha Vijayan and Niranj Maniyanpilla Raju, others featured Vishnu Agasthya, All We Imagine As Light actor Divya Prabha, Jagadish, Suresh Krishna, Ann Saleem, and Rahul Rajagopal. The film also stars Nandu, Santhy Balachandran, Zhins Shan, Manoj Kana, Sreenath Babu, Anoop Mohandas, and Jain Andrews. Interestingly, the film was previously showcased at the second edition of India's Cinevesture International Film Festival (CIFF) as part of the CinéV-CHD Market lineup, which featured 22 projects from both emerging and established filmmakers. Masthishka Maranam is said to be a mind-bending comedy thriller that follows a grieving father who enters a virtual reality memory game in an attempt to reconnect with his lost child. The film is bankrolled by Vinayaka Ajith under the banner of Ajith Vijayaka Films, in association with Krishand Films. Masthishka Maranams's technical crew consists of cinematographer Prayag Mukundan and music director Varkey, with art direction by Krishand and Alvin Joseph.
