37 Things Pet Parents Will Want To Buy

A catnip wall mount with four different-flavored balls so your kitty can perform a taste test and decide their favorite. It's basically a bourbon flight for cats — that's so cool! They'll be too preoccupied sampling the goods to scream at you for treats for at least a solid 15 minutes (a century in hungry cat time). A nail grinder that's a little easier and gentler than the traditional clipper. Gone are the days of having to use both hands to clip and praying you don't cut too short. Instead: a relaxing spa day. A pack of Arm & Hammer shampoo wipes for quick and easy cleanups. Use 'em for freshening up coats, muzzles, paws, and butts. The glycerin, aloe, and oat extract moisturize, and the mango scent is sure to be a hit — at least, it's way better than wet dog smell. A mini cat tag in case your lil' Houdini slips out the door again. In a world with so many stray cats, this can help them stand out as a pet in need of assistance. CoveLeather is a small business that sells pet supplies. Promising review: "It's so tiny and cute; I love that it doesn't take up so much space on my kitty's collar so she doesn't feel overburdened by tags." —OranGet it from CoveLeather on Etsy for $8+ (available in three styles and two colors). A pack of paw protection cream with vitamin E to keep paw pads nice and soft. Most dogs hate shoes, so this helps keep their tootsies safer from the elements (salt and ice in the winter and hot sidewalks in the summer). Promising review: "My dog has extremely dry and cracked paws, so rough she gets stuck to the carpet. I've tried just about everything, all failed for various reasons. This product works. I was only able to do one paw the first time, she fought me like a demon. Next time she let me do all four with little fuss, she likes the result. I followed everyone's lead and put it on right before walks. I've noticed that she wants to run and jump more, and genuinely is happy with her feet. One downside is because it softens the pads you have to be careful where they step; she picked up a thorny branch where before the treatment it wouldn't penetrate. Fair trade in my opinion; now we can play and snuggle without her scratching me up. Bottom line: love it, the dog loves it, good value little goes a long ways. —PeggyGet it from Amazon for $15.99. A Chom Chom pet hair remover if you'd prefer your furniture to be fur-free but don't have the patience to vacuum for a century. It has a clingy roller (no wasteful adhesive strips) that grabs hair and deposits it into a built-in compartment. You can tell Fido to stay off the couch all you want, but dogs don't speak Human! Instead, use this reusable roller to reclaim your seating. Or a Fur-Zoff pet hair remover that'll pull all the fur off your belongings. It turns out that white fur coat you own is actually a black denim jacket??? The stone is made from recycled materials and has a lifetime warranty. Promising review: "Holy cow, this is magic. I have a 230-pound Mastiff. I have purchased any and everything claiming to get dog hair off car carpet. I have used at least three different vacuums and attachments. Lately, I have been using a microfiber towel because it had some grip. Then, this piece of magic arrived. It gets every single hair, no matter how embedded. There were hairs I had a hard time removing with my fingers. The Fur-Zoff pulled them right out. This has cut my hair removal time in half! Thank you for this savior of a tool." —David it from Amazon for $13.99. An LED collar to keep your dog safe on night walks and to give yourself a free light show. It's rechargeable, waterproof, and can last up to 8 hours on a single charge. Also pair with a light-up leash!Promising review: "This has exceeded my expectations! It is so bright and I love the flashing modes! We got it in blue for our chocolate lab, and it adjusts well. It is super durable and easy to charge. Exactly what I needed. This collar has lights all the way around it; it can be seen from every angle and direction!" —BreannahGet it from Amazon for $21.99+ (available in sizes XS–L and nine colors). A cat grass-growing kit for the cat who struggles with frequent hairballs. It's made from a blend of barley, flax, oat, and wheat seeds and is a safe source of vitamins and minerals. The kit comes with a mug, seeds, and a soil disk. Get refills review: "I love this purchase! Not only is the mug adorable, but the grass is simple to grow and maintain, and my cat loves it! My cat has had significantly less hairball issues since we started growing the grass for him, and it has helped curb his unwavering appetite throughout the day. The refill kits are affordable, and I have just ordered my second set of refills. I would definitely recommend this purchase for any cat lover!" —CelGet it from Amazon for $15.97. An immunity-boosting allergy supplement so your itchy dog can finally find some relief. These soft chews deliver a dose of probiotics and other nutrients to help improve immune function, aide digestion, and promote healthy skin. Bonus: They add a nice shine to your dog's coat. Remember to consult your vet before trying new review: "Absolutely the best product. It saved my itchy goldendoodle! We tried changing food, medicated shampoo, fish oil, everything you can imagine... nothing worked long-term. He was itching his face so badly he would make himself bleed. Had sores and scabs all over his face and neck. I bought these because they had good reviews and I was desperate. It changed his life! He no longer scratches AT ALL! His coat looks great and all of his sores are healed. He's the happiest he's been which makes me a very happy momma. He is also very picky and never eats treats... he eats these every time so that's an added bonus!" —Darcie NationGet them from Amazon for $24.97+ (available in three sizes and flavors). An automatic water fountain in case your picky cat needs some motivation to stay hydrated. Cats instinctively know that running water is safer than still water, so this flower fountain helps create a more alluring drink. A plush, hollow log filled with three squeaker chipmunks that your pet can pull out and chomp away at. Seems like a great stress reliever! Grab extra squeaky toys review: "Charlie (the beagle) has been playing with his squirrel log non-stop since it arrived. We are pretty pleased, considering he usually destroys a new toy within 5-10 minutes. The only down side is that the little critters inside the log aren't very sturdy; he destroyed one in about 60 seconds when I looked away. I tried hiding other toys in the log, but he really prefers the included critters, to the point where he will dig around the old toys to get to one of the squirrels! He has chewed a small hole in the log as well, but as long as I keep putting the squirrels back in the log, they seem to keep his attention. We are already waiting for our first critter refill to arrive!" —AliGet it from Amazon for $22.10 (also available in a chicken bucket style). A bearded dragon harness with wings so your lizard can pretend to be a fire-breathing dragon. The nylon leash comes with a swivel link and buckle so your lil' beast can explore comfortably. Promising review: "It took some finesse to get it on him at first since he kept pulling his legs out but once I got it on, it worked like a charm. This was a first for my beardie so it took him some getting used to before he moved on his own. It's pretty cute too." —ChrispGet it from Amazon for $9.99. A suction cup hammock (that can hold up to 50 pounds!) cats will love for lounging by the window and getting some sun. More window gazing = less meowing at you. Make sure you clean the window and suction cups before installing. To get them to use the perch, place their bed or favorite treats on it to lure them up. Read BuzzFeed's write-up on this cat review: "Great product for the price! Easy to install, holds my 5-pound kitten just fine! We installed it on the large window next to our glass French doors. We placed a small rug on it and she immediately took to it. She loves lounging on it, napping, and staring out at the distant cars or falling rain." —AnacletaGet it from Amazon for $19.97. A Thundershirt to provide your nervous pup a little calming pressure when loud noises are upsetting them. Consider it the comforting equivalent to a weighted blanket or nice, big hug. Promising review: "I rarely write reviews, but felt compelled to do so after seeing how effective this shirt has been on our dog. We have a 30-pound rescue who's about 6 years old. She's the sweetest girl, and very 'dog-like' with my husband and I. However, whenever there's company (regardless of how many times she's met them before), she freezes up, gets tense, and hides out in a comfortable area. Long story short, we thought we'd give the Thundershirt a try. I really didn't have any expectations considering her level of anxiety. We brought her to my aunt's house for Christmas where there were 17 people (many of which were kids under 9). She was a new dog. She was walking up to people, letting them pet her, and tail up the entire time. Everyone was commenting on how social she was, and how tolerant she was of the five kids who were completely smothering her with love! I will be using this for all future social gatherings. I don't want my dog feeling anxiety, and this shirt clearly brought her significant comfort." —laurenmickelsenGet it from Amazon for $44.95+ (available in XXS–2XL and two colors). An electric pet shaver that'll make trimming so easy, you'll feel like a professional dog groomer. Reviewers say it's quiet, so it won't spook them. But after purchasing these clippers my dog is extremely calm. They are indeed quiet, not extremely loud like most pet clippers. Makes giving her a haircut very easy. Beautiful set and comes with everything included. When I ordered it, it was really fast delivery and I am extremely happy with this order. If ever we need this product in the future I would buy it again." —MinimalArtGet it from Amazon for $25.48+ (available in four colors). A wall-mounted play place with bridges and a ladder for your little explorer. It's modular, so you can tailor the design to your cat's liking. Sadly, you're not invited on this adventure. Promising review: "I was pleasantly surprised when I saw how well built this was! I initially had to use treats to get my cats to go up in it, now it's my oldest feline's favorite perch! He's 14 pounds and it holds him well! The brackets are spaced just right to fit into studs. It took two of us due to its size, but it only took us about five minutes total to install! I highly recommend it!" —KwooGet it from Amazon for $3.99. It also works for non-pet stains like ink, soda, coffee, and review: "Our poor older pup started having some incontinence issues and had several accidents in the house. I was really frustrated until I found these. They work amazingly well. They're small, so if the area was larger I had to use two or three, but they pulled up stains and saved the house from being smelly. I even used one on an older stain (that I'm pretty sure wasn't pet related) and it came up after leaving it on for about 24 hours. I make sure to keep a supply of these in the house at all times now." —MCGet a pack of 20 from Amazon for $24.99. A handy device that keeps track of whether or not the dog has been fed. Bella is visibly sleeker and happier after two good de-shedding combing sessions. The best part is that she LOVED it, which says a lot, because she typically will only allow a few swipes of the brush at a time. But with this comb, she even let me get her BELLY fur!!! Sometimes I don't catch the goop fast enough and it hardens in his muzzle. Even when I do, the goop is slimy and difficult to remove even with dog wipes. This tool is a miracle! Small, light weight and a good value for the price. Just one comb through and I got the sticky wet goop. A few more comb throughs and I found eye gunk that was buried in his muzzle. You hate chapped lips, so your dog definitely hates having a chapped nose. Promising review: "Well, I have never before been so shocked at the effectiveness of a product. Our 5-year-old Frenchie, Carol, had a nose that was so crusty it was sprouting these long strands of more crust. There was literally crust on crust on crust. The nose had strings of crust. This nose was so crusty and repulsive it was almost beautiful. Her nose might have resembled the rarest, most exotic geode to be mined from the rarest mine in Guatemala. A friend recommended Snout Soother for Carol's repulsive nose. I was worried she would just lick it all off and it wouldn't work. We never imagined she could have a regular, soft, moist nose again. Pete Wicks delighted as dying dog Theo gets loving home for final days

Pete Wicks talks of his joy after Theo, who has a terminal heart condition, is rehomed with a loving family following an appeal by him, Dog's Trust and the Mirror Strictly star Pete Wicks ' quest to find dying Theo a home has ended in success - as he has finally moved out of kennels. The lovable Neapolitan Mastiff with a serious heart condition has been taken on by loving couple Natalie and Darren from Worcestershire. It follows an appeal from the TV star, the Mirror and Dog's Trust. ‌ Theo, who is only four, may only have up to a year left to live. Pete, 37 was desperate for him to spend his final days with a family. The kind-hearted star previously told the Mirror he would offer to pay for all Theo's medical bills himself. Speaking after Theo was rehomed, Dogs Trust Ambassador Pete said: 'I couldn't be happier that Theo has found a new home. He's such a big softie and deserves to be in a home filled with love. ‌ "Knowing he'll be spending his days surrounded by people who adore him means the world to me, and to everyone who's followed his journey. Thank you to all who have helped us on this mission to find Theo a forever home.' ‌ Theo's new owner, Natalie, added: 'We've always had big dogs, and after losing our beloved Mastiff, Freya, we were looking to welcome another gentle giant into our lives. The moment I saw Theo, I just knew we could love him. He's such a beautiful dog; how could anyone not want to give him a home? 'We're realistic about his condition and know our hearts will break one day, but that's the risk you take with any dog. For now, we're simply enjoying his incredible personality and making the most of every moment. He's only been with us a few days, but he's already proving to be a wonderful addition to our family.' ‌ Pete first met Theo after he was brought to Dogs Trust Kenilworth in Warwickshire as a severely underweight stray. He now weighs a healthy 52kgs. His story is being documented in the upcoming series of Pete Wicks: For Dogs' Sake. Emma-Jane Thomas, Rehoming Centre Manager at Dogs Trust Kenilworth, said: 'Theo is one of those dogs who leaves a pawprint on your heart. We're so grateful to Pete and the For Dogs' Sake team for helping us share his story, and to Natalie and Darren and their family for giving Theo his forever home. "Seeing him settled into a loving home is the happy ending we all hoped for. Theo's story is a reminder that every dog, regardless of age, health, or background, deserves a chance at happiness. He's now living his best life, surrounded by love, treats, and plenty of belly rubs.' Pete Wicks: For Dogs' Sake returns to U&W for a second and third series, plus a Christmas special. Series one is available to stream for free on U.

Parents of boy, 3, killed by 'aggressive guard dogs' were warned about danger

Three-year-old Daniel Twigg was mauled to death by two large Mastiff-type dogs who were being used to guard Carr Farm in Rochdale - he entered a pen 'unsupervised' A toddler was savaged to death by two dogs on a farm after his parents left him "unsupervised" despite them being warned the animals were dangerous. Three-year-old Daniel Twigg died suffered "severe damage" to his neck and died from his injuries after he endured the savage attack. A court heard how he "suffered massive internal and likely plentiful external bleeding." ‌ Daniel had entered the pen and was pounced on by the two dogs, who weighed around "50kg" each. His parents, Mark Twigg and Joanne Bedford, of Radcliffe, both deny manslaughter and offences under the dangerous dog act. On the first day of their trial, it was said the pair were "well aware" that the animals were aggressive. ‌ Opening the case at Manchester Crown Court, Mr Elvidge KC, prosecuting, said Daniel died after he was able to enter a pen at Carr Farm in Rochdale on May 15, 2022, where he found "two large Mastiff type dogs called Sid and Tiny." A swab of DNA taken from Tiny's muzzle and Sid's nose matched that of Daniel's blood. The dogs were being used on the farm for "breeding and to act as guard dogs, " reports Manchester Evening News. The jury was told that they would be shown CCTV footage that showed Daniel enter the pen which was "secured with a sliding latch and a Carabiner clip," rather than a secure lock. Elvidge told the jury that Twigg and Bedford had a "long association" with the farm that belonged to a man called Matthew Brown, who was also Daniel's godfather. He told the court that Twigg was an "odd job man" who worked for Mr Brown. The family had been living on the farm after Mr Brown was remanded to prison after his partner had "complained about him". In an agreement with social services, Mr Brown's partner, her young son and their puppies left the farm and it was agreed that Mr Twigg and Miss Bedford would live on the premises to tend to the animals by "feeding them, watering them and ensuring that their living conditions were acceptable." The court heard how Twigg and Bedford were in charge of caring for eight or nine "untrained guard dogs" that were "difficult to control". They were of a varying breeds such as a Cane Corso, American Bulldog, German Shepherd, Tibetan Mastiff and a Boerboel. ‌ Mr Elvidge told the court that signs were in place warning visitors about the dogs, one of which told visitors not to exit their vehicle and to "beep their horn or ring" instead, while another said 'beware of the dogs they bite'. The court heard how the dogs, including Tiny and Sid, lived in an "extremely unclean and impoverished environment, with no clean bedding and surrounded by their own faeces', and that they were "not taken out of this environment for exercise." The court also heard that the pair had been warned about the risk of Daniel being bitten by the dogs by an RSPCA inspector but they "brushed off that warning." The court also heard that there had been previous instances of one of the dogs biting someone in the past. Another incident included a cyclist injuring themselves after falling off their bike due to the "aggressive behaviour" of two dogs that were roaming free on the farm. The trial is expected to last three weeks.

Drunk couple decapitate and stab dog to death to 'avenge' dead cat

WARNING: DISTRESSING CONTENT: The couple 'brutally' executed their Argentinian mastiff after drinking heavily, a court in Auxerre, France heard A couple planning to start an animal breeding business drunkenly used a chainsaw to behead their Mastiff before the woman stabbed it to "avenge" their cat. The French couple were jailed after police found the dog stabbed to death when they were called out to reports of domestic violence at the couple's home in Levis last May. The woman told the court in Auxerre she stabbed the Argentinian mastiff after finding her partner's cat dead, who she says the dog had killed, Le Parisien reported. ‌ The pair, who remain unnamed, said they had wanted to euthanize the "dangerous" dog, with the man saying "decapitation was the only way he could think of" in ending his dog's life. The man told the court that both he and his partner had been drinking heavily - a litre of vodka and two beers each - before the horrific 20-minute assault with a chainsaw unfolded. ‌ The man was being treated for drug and alcohol use and admitted to having "finished off the dog to avenge (his) cat". Several other cats and dogs lived in the home as the couple were planning to start a breeding business, the news outlet added. The prosecution denounced the "barbaric act" as "unheard of brutality" and a "first for France" while the defendants' lawyer pleaded that they were under the influence of alcohol and one had a "personality disorder", reports Mirror US. The man, 38, was handed 18 months in prison and the woman, 31, was sentenced to two years. The pup also had fractured teeth and was also severely underweight. It has branded her last owner's acts as "heinous" and "cruel" as law enforcement suspect Lavender was a victim of animal cruelty. Authorities in Menands, which is near the city of Albany, have released fresh information - and upsetting photographs - of the brown dog in an effort to establish exact details about her history. The release was shared on social media this week, where dog lovers have expressed their anger at the previous owner - and adoration for the cute pooch. In the photographs, it is apparent Lavender had suffered injuries at the hands of the "heinous" owner. One Facebook user said: "What a sweet little girl. So sad she has been abused and still looks so sweet!!! Fingers crossed the evil person who did this is punished. Poor baby."
