Two dead, newly-wed couple critical in Bundi road crash
Kota: A head-on collision between a speeding pick up and a Bolero on NH 148D near Kevat Nagar in Bundi district left two women dead and five others, including a newly-wed couple, critically injured Friday. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The victims, residents of Harmali Ka Kheda village under Dablana police station limits, were travelling in a Bolero to Choth Ka Barwada in Sawai Madhopur for Mataji's darshan. The crash occurred around 12 pm under the jurisdiction of Nainwan police station. The deceased have been identified as Sarmabai (48), mother of the groom, and Jodhi Bai (30), his aunt. The injured include Mukesh Meena (26), the groom; Saroj (22), the bride; Ramesh Meena (50), the groom's father; Bolero driver Suresh Banjara (32); and Sheoji Goswami, a passenger in the pick up. Police said the pick up was allegedly speeding when it collided with the Bolero coming from the opposite direction. The pick up driver fled the scene, abandoning the vehicle. All injured were initially taken to Nainwan community health centre and later referred to Bundi district hospital. SHO Kamlesh Kumar Sharma confirmed that a case has been registered against the pick up driver, who is still absconding. Both vehicles have been seized. Mukesh and Saroj had married just the previous Thursday and were on a family pilgrimage when tragedy struck.

The actress says, 'When I walk into a new set, I still get nervous because there's a certain expectation from me as a performer. Even though I have been working in the industry since 1997, I'm as excited about every role that I take up.' Jayati, who has done theatre and films, has been busy with TV shows in recent years. Talking about the one role, which made her a household name, she shares, 'In recent times, people remember my character Phatto from Heeramandi , but it's my role as Mataji in Sasural Simar Ka , which was a game-changer for me. Even today, people call me Mataji.' She adds, 'Sometimes people even call me Phatto, my character from Heeramandi. These roles are close to my heart, but those chapters are closed now and I'm looking forward to exploring new roles.' So, how did she react when the show was trolled for its daayan and makhi sequences? Jayati replies, 'When we first got the script, even we laughed, but as an actor, it is my job to shoot and make it believable. While some criticised it, the fact is that the show was doing well.'
