Jimmy-Pei Jing fall short again, lose fourth final this year
KUALA LUMPUR: World No. 127 Jimmy Wong-Lai Pei Jing lost the Macau Open final on Sunday, missing out on their first World Tour title as an independent mixed doubles pair. The world No. 127 were defeated 21-13, 21-16 by unranked Danes Mathias Christiansen-Alexandra Boje at the East Asian Games Dome. This defeat marks the fourth time this year that Jimmy-Pei Jing have been runners-up in a final. They were also runners-up in three lower-tier tournaments — the Vietnam International Series in March, the Phuket International Series in April, and the St Denis Reunion Open in May. Pei Jing partnered with Jimmy after her former partner, Tan Kian Meng, retired following the All England in March. For the Danish pair, this is their maiden title in their first tournament since reuniting. Christiansen had received a one-year ban last September for failing to report his whereabouts for three consecutive anti-doping tests. His suspension expired last week. The pair were previously ranked as high as No. 8 in the world in 2022.

Tang Jie-Ee Wei suffer shock defeat to unranked Danes
KUALA LUMPUR: There will be no all-Malaysian mixed doubles final at the Macau Open after Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei were defeated in the semi-finals on Saturday. The world No. 3 lost 15-21, 21-17, 21-11 in 54 minutes to Denmark's Mathias Christiansen-Alexandra Boje at the East Asian Games Dome. Christiansen-Boje were ranked as high as world No. 8 in 2022, but the unseeded pair split for a year before reuniting recently. They will face another Malaysian pair, Jimmy Wong-Lai Pei Jing, in the final on Sunday.
