Boys Night Out secures trainer Matt Dunn his 39th Highway victory at Rosehill after 46-week drought

Leading country trainer Matt Dunn ended a 46-week drought Highway drought when Boys Night Out made light work of his opposition at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday. Dunn, the state's most successful Highway Handicap-winning trainer, last won one when Cranky Harry saluted at Royal Randwick on July 13 last year. • PUNT LIKE A PRO: Become a Racenet iQ member and get expert tips – with fully transparent return on investment statistics – from Racenet's team of professional punters at our Pro Tips section. SUBSCRIBE NOW! Boys Night Out's 1500m win was Dunn's 39th Highway victory and winning jockey Aaron Bullock said the four-year-old gelding has bigger things ahead. 'It's not often you get one that's a standout in a Highway but today I was confident that was the case,' Bullock said. 'He was dynamite. He's better than a Highway horse.' Bullock's only concern during Saturday's contest was a foreign object being carried by Anna Roper aboard Straight Fire. 'In the early stages Anna (Roper) crossed me with the towel flapping all over the joint,' he said. 'She must have forgotten to get rid of it before the race and it wasn't until after we'd gone about 400m, when luckily she'd crossed me and gone down to the fence, that the towel went flying.' Boys Night Out made use of barrier two, never further than a few horses off the speed before being eased out into clear running from the top of the straight and the race was quickly put to bed. The son of Nay Nay Never (USA) started the $2.80 favourite and defeated My Last Hooray ($13) by 3¾ lengths with the $3.20 second favourite Warrior For Peace a half-length back in third. 'Soft draws always help and I was able to put him into the perfect spot, he got into lovely rhythm and I was saying 'woo boy' at the corner,' Bulloch said. 'He was getting through the ground really easily and it was a case of going at the right time and in the end it didn't matter because he had plenty on them.' Passengers trapped in London train tunnel for two hours

Thameslink is working to get passengers off the train and restore the power supply to tracks following an issue that has sparked lengthy delays to travel in and out of London. A travel warning has been put in place as several passengers have been trapped in a train tunnel for hours. There are fears for the health of those onboard the London train, with the heat and lack of water quickly becoming a concern. ‌ One passenger said people are starting to "feel ill" and struggling to remain calm, while others have pleaded for an evacuation. ‌ Passenger Goran Kray complained of the situation on the train to Thameslink on social media. He said: "Let's swap places mate so that we can preach to you about staying calm in a carriage with no power, aircon, water and total lack of information. Having been in this situation since 19:42." Matt Dunn also said passengers trapped on the train had started to feel ill due to the heat and lack of water, reports the Mirror. ‌ In a response to Thameslink on X/Twitter he said: "Passengers are starting to feel ill due to heat and lack of water. You need to get us off this train. Please allow a controlled evacuation." Thameslink has also now confirmed the passengers were trapped due to an electrical supply failure. He added: "We are working to get all passengers off the train." Issues were first reported around 8pm tonight, with lines blocked in both directions due to the electric supply failure between the two stations. "If your train has come to a stand in between stations, please remain on board and do not attempt to leave the train unless directed to by a member of staff," Thameslink said in post shared to social media. "We know where you are and we are working to get you on the move again shortly."

2025 Spirit Of Boom Classic: Torque To Be Sure win would be emotional for Ian Corazzol

Don't miss out on the headlines from Horse Racing. Followed categories will be added to My News. Grief-stricken owner Ian Corazzol will on Saturday return to the racetrack for the first time since his beloved wife Sherryl lost her lengthy battle against pancreatic cancer. Corazzol will be at Doomben to watch two-year-old Torque To Be Sure contest the $300,000 Group 2 Spirit Of Boom Classic (1200m). The musical equipment distributor wants to honour the memory of his childhood sweetheart, who died aged 74 last Thursday. • PUNT LIKE A PRO: Become a Racenet iQ member and get expert tips – with fully transparent return on investment statistics – from Racenet's team of professional punters at our Pro Tips section. SUBSCRIBE NOW! 'When Sherryl passed away it was quite a surprise really because she seemed to be travelling all right but came up with a little problem at the time,' Corazzol said. 'We had been married for 54 years and we'd been together since we were 17 – it's a long time in the scheme of things. I already miss her terribly. 'In the end she couldn't go to the races. She dropped more than a third of her body weight due to the illness and she really couldn't get around to many places.' Torque To Be Sure is an early $9.50 chance in the Spirit of Boom Classic behind favourite Beskar ($5), Gallo Nero ($5.50) and Navy Pilot ($7). If the talented colt can break his maiden status, there will be emotional scenes for both Corazzol, his co-owners and Murwillumbah trainer Matt Dunn. • Wet the key to Wealth in Group 1 Doomben 10,000 'It would've meant a lot to Sherryl but it'll mean an awful lot to me as well,' Corazzol said. 'We were in it with a few people from the stable and we're all looking forward to the race. 'He's had three runs for three seconds but he's starting to get out to his right distance.' Corazzol couldn't bear to drive down the Gold Coast highway last Saturday to watch his gelding Boom Torque run around in the Listed ATC Trophy (1200m) on a Heavy 8 track, with champion jockey Blake Shinn riding, just 48 hours after Sherryl had passed away. But he doesn't want to miss the races at Doomben on Saturday, knowing that his soulmate will be there in spirit. 'I didn't go down to the Gold Coast last weekend when I had Boom Torque and he ran fourth – he doesn't like a wet track at all – but I will go to this one,' he said. 'Hopefully this horse Torque To Be Sure will get himself together, stretch it out and win it.' • Doomben 10,000 tips, runner-by-runner form analysis Corazzol said Sherryl owned shares in 'two or three horses' and loved going to the racetrack to watch them right up until the final eight months of her life, when the insidious cancer took a hold. Sherryl's favourite horse was the Stuart Kendrick-trained colt Luva Flutta, which finished second-last in this year's Magic Millions 2YO Classic on the Gold Coast – but that result hardly mattered. Just seeing her horse qualify for a $3m race in January was enough to give Sherryl a massive boost in her tenacious fight against cancer. • Doomben 10,000 day fields full of quality 'It didn't do any good there but it was great to have a runner in the big race,' Corazzol said about Luva Flutta, who won back-to-back races on the Sunshine Coast last spring before scoring a dream ticket to the Magic Millions Classic. 'We were down in Sydney and she watched it run when it won its last start and as they crossed the line she punched the air and said 'you little beauty, good on ya'.'
