Animals As Leaders Have Cancelled Their 2025 Australian Tour

Animals As Leaders have cancelled all remaining dates on their 2025 world tour – immediately affecting their planned return to Australia this September, as well as dates in Mexico and South America. In a post shared to the band's social media accounts, the American djent trio explained that drummer Matt Garstka had sustained what was described as 'a serious arm injury' – so serious, in fact, that it 'requires surgery' that will keep him on the shelf for the rest of the year. 'There's no way we can perform without him,' wrote guitarists Tosin Abasi and Javier Reyes in their joint statement. 'Rather than leave things up in the air, we're calling it now and putting our full focus into writing the next Animals As Leaders album. New material is already in the works, and we'll have more to share soon. 'We know this news sucks – especially for those of you who've been waiting a long time to see us live. Canceling isn't something we take lightly. Thank you for sticking with us. We'll make it back to your cities with new music and a set that hits even harder.' Animals As Leaders – 'Physical Education' The tour promoter, Destroy All Lines, have said that refunds for all shows will be available from point of purchase, and to expect 30 days for the money to appear in accounts. The band's Australian shows were set to see them performing their 2014 album The Joy Of Motion in its entirety to belatedly celebrate its 10-year anniversary. Joining the band as support on all shows was to be American mathcore band Car Bomb, who were set to perform in Australia for the very first time.
