'We're the UK's smartest twins and have a combined IQ of 314'
What do you do when your twin is a genius? Become one too, I guess. That was the answer of 11-year-old Keira Arora, who joined MENSA with an IQ of 152 just six months after her twin brother first got in. With a combined IQ of 314, the pair, from Hounslow in London, are staking their claim as Britain's smartest siblings. Their parents Nischal and Mauli are also revealing how they raised two children who are finding school frankly far 'too easy'. Krish Arora got in on the action first. The maths whizz joined Mensa with an IQ of 162 – two more than his 'hero' Albert Einstein – back in November. He was already doing decimal divisions at the age of four and was reading fluently then, too. It took just two years for him to master the piano, smashing through four grades in just six months. But his true love is numbers. The primary school kid has been given piles of maths homework set for school pupils closer to GCSEs, and he's already mastering economics. Krish, who hopes to be an actuary one day, is looking forward to going to Cambridge despite not even starting secondary school. But his prospects look good. He got into the UK's best grammar school, Queen Elizabeth, in Barnet after scoring 100% in the 'too easy' 11-plus maths exam. To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video 'I enjoy the label 'genius', he told Metro. 'And I prefer having my sister with me in Mensa now.' Twin sister Keira was motivated to try to get into the exclusive club for geniuses when her brother blew away the IQ test six months ago. She told Metro: 'My brother inspired me to take the Mensa test. 'When I got the results, I was so speechless. I was ecstatic and happy. 'I feel very blessed to have a high IQ.' She's a different kind of clever, writing 'author-like' works of fiction and poetry. When she has time, she is the lead singer of her school's rock band. And just like her brother, she's been introduced to robotics and programming by her parents. School for her is also a breeze. Keira, who is an aspiring lawyer, said: 'I don't really find it academically challenging, but I really enjoy school because I get to play with my friends. 'I also like having the label as a genius.' But how did one household end up producing two mini-Einstein's? Mum Mauli was keen to stress it was a mixture of nature and nurture. She told Metro: 'The kids have to have the spark, something on the genetic side of it. 'But it is also about the environment that you give them. We are very hands on parents. We expose them to a lot of activities. 'That exposure helps them to learn a lot of things and also to find out where their interests are.' Their household rules are also the most eye-catching. While they endorse screen time for language learning on Duolingo and other serious work, screen time for fun is strictly limited to only one hour a day. 'Screen time has to be allowed to some extent, because a lot of learning comes from it,' Mauli explained. 'But in terms of them browsing at leisure or whatever they want to browse, that we limit to one hour.' 'Too much screen time for children can take your focus away. I 100% agree on that.' Bedtime is also strictly 9.30pm, and they get up bright and early every day to start learning. More Trending But Twins Krish and Keira are in complete agreement with their parent's methods. Keira praised the careful limits on mindless phone or gaming time: 'I feel like the limitation of screen time helps me to focus. It means my brain is not so zoned out.' Both children are beginning their secondary education in September. While Krish is going to Queen Elizabeth School, Keira is going to very highly-rated Tiggin Girls' School in Kingston. Meet Britain's smartest siblings: 11-year-old brother and sister join Mensa - he's already smarter than Einstein, she's a poet who leads a rock band and they have a combined IQ of 314
A pair of genius twins might be Britain's smartest siblings having been accepted into Mensa with a combined IQ of 314. Krish and Keira Arora, both aged 11, have been enrolled into the exclusive international society after scoring incredibly highly on the IQ test. To qualify for membership at Mensa you have to score in the top 2 per cent of the general population on a recognised intelligence test. Maths genius Krish has an IQ of 162, which is believed to be higher than Albert Einstein's estimated score of 160. He was the first of the pair to join Mensa after getting accepted last November at age 10, while his twin sister Keira - with an IQ of 152 - followed in his footsteps earlier this month, aged 11. 'Its a very proud feeling. Sometimes you think about it and you feel they've done something impossible because they're so young, so it's remarkable - we never thought that something like this would happen,' the twins mother, Mauli told My London. The siblings, who attend their local state primary school in Hounslow, are both musically talented, as well as being academically gifted including being able to programme robots and write author-level poetry. Keira says singing makes herself feel 'happy and confident' and performs as the lead in her school rock band. 'It makes me feel good. I don't think I've ever experienced stage fright,' shesaid. Krish is a talented piano player who is said to have a 'perfect pitch'. 'I really like playing music. It makes me feel calm and peaceful - music is something I really enjoy,' Krish said. Despite their young age, Krish and Keira have a clear idea of where they want their careers to go. 'I'd like to be a lawyer when I grow up,' Keira said. She even highlight commercial law as an area of expertise as she believes she is 'very good at negotiating with people'. After completing Year 9 maths before even getting to secondary school, Krish wants to pursue a job as a mathematician or an actuary. 'Sometimes at school when we do maths I put my hand up they say Krish, not you, don't answer. But I still have a lot of things to learn, I haven't done A Levels yet but I'm very privileged to know I'm really smart - smarter than Einstein,' he said. While allowing Krish and Keira to follow their passions, engineer parents Mauli and Nischal revealed there are some rules they believe have helped nurture their children's academic talent. In the evening, the family turn their lights off at 9.30pm ready for an early nights sleep. They also put restrictions on video games as well as closely monitoring what they are watching and closely follow age ratings. Their routine after school consists of coming back and eating before doing 'something productive for an hour - French or economics, something where they are learning'. The parents added that they then have an hour of down time, giving them time to spend of their iPads, go out with their friends, or practice on the piano. Later this year, Keira will start her studies at Tiffin Girls' School, a highly-rated selective school in Kingston. Meanwhile, Krish will begin his secondary studies at Queen Elizabeth, in Barnet, one of the UK's best grammar schools Can you make it into Mensa? Take our IQ quiz and add up your score to find out 1. Govt issues SOPs to protect inter-caste, inter-faith couples
MUMBAI: Amid incidents of attacks on couples who have entered into inter-faith or inter-caste marriages, the state government on Tuesday issued a nine-point standard operating procedure (SOP) for the protection of such couples. The SOP has been issued on directives given by the Supreme Court in 2018. A special cell will also be formed at the district level under the superintendent of police or commissioner of police; a safe house will be provided to couples in need of such a facility; and the police will also provide security to couples under threat. The SOP also includes a state helpline, procedures for the registration of FIRs, free legal aide to couples, a district-level review committee, and submission of report to government. With regard to the special district-level cell, a district social welfare officer and district women and child development officer will work as its members. This cell will verify the age of the couple. Once it is confirmed that neither is a minor, an investigation will be initiated on the basis of their complaint. If necessary or if demanded by the couple, a safe house should be provided to them initially for one month, at nominal charges. This facility could be extended up to six months. This safe house should be given police protection, and the couple should receive police protection if they request it. The district collector will arrange the safe house facility, which could be a suite in a government guest house, any non-occupied staff quarters, or even a private house on a rental basis. Expenditure for the safe house will be provided from the funds of the social justice department. The couple will have to submit a self-declaration stating that they have married without any pressure and they will have to provide proof of age. If the couple or any one of them is a minor, the police will inform the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) and will provide protection to them till the CWC decides on the matter. A helpline number 112 will be provided for complaints. Any information registered on the helpline about inter-caste or inter-religious marriages will be kept secret for the protection of the couples. If any couple comes to the police station with a complaint, claiming threat to their life, protection should be given immediately. Police should file an FIR and a senior officer will submit a report within a week. There would be a district-level review committee under the district collector. The director-general of police will file a quarterly report to the state government.
