Arrested persons in Lanao del Sur op vs Maute group were minors — PNP

The three people arrested in a recent operation in Lanao del Sur against rebel group Dawlah Islamiyah-Maute Group (DI-MG) were children, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said Monday. 'Sa operasyong ito, nakahuli tayo ng mga menor de edad na mga fighters na ginagamit ng Maute. Sa kasalukuyan, ang mga nahuli ay nasa kustodiya ng 103rd Infantry Battalion, 6th Infantry Division ng Philippine Army sa Marawi,' PNP chief Police General Nicolas Torre III said at a press briefing. (In this operation, we were able to capture minor fighters used by the Maute. Currently, those captured are in the custody of the 103rd Infantry Battalion, 6th Infantry Division of the Philippine Army in Marawi.) 'Nagpreprepare na rin tayo ng kaso laban sa mga nahuling ito. However, the alleged leader of the DI Maute Group - ISIS, Amerol Usman, as well as other subjects of the arrest warrant have evaded arrest during the firefight, according to the police. Seized during the operation were the following: M4A1 Colt caliber 5.56mm rifle a caliber 45 pistol a hand grenade a rocket propelled grenade (RPG) a homemade M79 grenade launcher 13 pieces of IED blasting caps two black ISIS flags, one M16 A1 rifle assorted magazines rounds of assorted live ammunition fired cartridge cases Meanwhile, Philippine Army's Corporal Johnson Francisco Zorca sustained a gunshot wound in the left knee during the encounter.
