Gethin Jones has announced the passing of his father Goronwy Jones as he paid a heartfelt tribute to his dad on social media on Monday. The TV presenter, 47, posted the final picture of his dad in hospital while playing him Hymns and Arias from his phone just hours before his death. Sharing the famous the Max Boyce quote, Gethin wrote: 'Wales defeated England. Hymns and Arias with dad last night, before he left us this morning. 'The most perfect, peaceful end. Welsh hymns playing, and the grandsons on speaker phone saying goodbye.' Gethin revealed that his father had battled illness for period of time as he highlighted the importance of humour in helping his family. He said: 'Dad was poorly for a while, he put up a good fight, incredible really. It was so nice to see his dry humour, the importance of faith and his love for classical music shine through at the end.' Gethin continued: 'Every day I've been at the Heath Hospital in Cardiff, someone would stop me and ask me about dad. 'He probably taught them at some point. He made a big impact on education in these parts over a long period of time. He was strict and direct, always reasonable. 'A teacher for 40 years, a headteacher for 28!' The Strictly star went on to thank the NHS for looking after his father, noting that his sister, who also works for the institution, has been 'amazing'. The presenter's celebrity friends and fans were quick to share their condolences in the comments section of the post. Sir Chris Hoy wrote: 'So sorry to hear it mate, but heartwarming to see him surrounded with love. x' Russell T Davies: 'Oh much love, darling xx' Writing in Welsh, fellow The One Show presenter Alex Jones said: 'Thinking of you Geth. Loads of love to you all.' Bronwen Lewis has been announced as the new host of BBC Radio Wales' morning who will take over the slot in the autumn, said she was "honoured to be given this incredible opportunity" and it was "a dream come true".The musician and presenter from Neath Port Talbot will also continue to present her current country music show on Wednesday evenings, while comedian Robin Morgan will have a brand new show on Sunday announcement comes after former Radio Wales presenter Wynne Evans left the BBC earlier this year, following an apology for making what he described as an "inappropriate and unacceptable" comment during the Strictly Come Dancing live tour launch.
