3 sleepers we are rooting for to make the 53-man roster

The Pittsburgh Steelers are just days away from their first preseason game of the year. This will be the first opportunity the coaches will get to see many of these young players in live action as they fight for their spots on the roster. The Steelers are taking on the Jacksonville Jaguars and here are the three guys we will be rooting for to play well and secure their spot on the 53-man roster. WR Roc Taylor Taylor is a guy who should have been drafted and was a big UDFA addition. His game and measurables are NFL caliber and he's making plays every day in training camp practice. There has been a lot of hype and hope surrounding Roman Wilson but Taylor has been the better receiver so far. G Max Scharping No player has taken better advantage of their opportunities than Scharping. He's shown he can play four spots on the offensive line and has proven himself to be incredibly valuable for an offensive line with lots of questions. CB Beanie Bishop It's crazy to think that the starting nickel cornerback from last season might not make the team but Pittsburgh has loaded up at cornerbacks and Bishop might end up the odd man out. We like Bishop's demeanor and style of play and hope he can win a place on the 53-man roster. Steelers re-signing ex-Texans 2019 second-round offensive lineman

Steelers re-signing ex-Texans 2019 second-round offensive lineman The Pittsburgh Steelers are re-signing veteran offensive lineman Max Scharping — who played two games for the Steel City in 2024 after being signed off the Washington Commanders' practice squad — to a one-year contract. Scharping was drafted by the Houston Texans in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft and has had a journeyman-like NFL career since being waived in 2022 — spending time with the Bengals, Eagles, and Commanders. Scharping brings both experience and versatility to the Steelers, as the offensive lineman has taken snaps at tackle, guard, and center since 2019, in 81 games — while starting in 33 of those contests. Scharping is set to be the Swiss Army knife of the Pittsburgh offensive line. The need to draft an offensive lineman in the later rounds of the draft hasn't diminished with Scharping's return, however, as starting LG Isaac Seumalo is set to turn 32 years old in 2025 and had injury concerns heading into last season.
