U.S. Crude Oil Stockpiles Fall Amid Lower Production
U.S. crude oil inventories fell for a second straight week as production declined, while gasoline stocks rose for the first time in 10 weeks, according to data released Wednesday by the U.S. Energy Information Administration. Commercial crude oil stocks excluding the Strategic Petroleum Reserve fell by 2 million barrels to 438.4 million barrels in the week ended May 2 and were about 7% below the five-year average for the time of year, the EIA said. Analysts surveyed by The Wall Street Journal had predicted a 1.3 million barrel decline in crude stockpiles.
