New Milton to honour bombing victims in remembrance ceremony
A special ceremony will be held to honour World War II bombing victims.
The Act of Remembrance is scheduled for Saturday, August 23, at 11am, at the Memorial Clock on Station Road, New Milton.
The ceremony will commemorate the 31 New Milton residents who tragically lost their lives in raids on August 23, 1940, August 8, 1942, and January 22, 1943.
The public is invited to join the Mayor of New Milton, Councillor Alvin Reid, in paying their respects.
The Memorial Clock stands as a solemn reminder of those who perished when bombs fell on the town during the Second World War.
Among those to be remembered are Irene Doris Avery, aged 31, Joan Mabel Bourne, aged 20, and Archibald Ernest Bursey, aged 15, all of whom died on August 23, 1940.
Also commemorated are Brian Eric Holloway, aged six, Pauline Edith Morin, aged eight, and Norma Mary Morin, aged nine, who died on January 22, 1943.
