View Photos of the 2025 Rolex 24 at Daytona
READ THE FULL STORY The motorsports year doesn't start until the IMSA Rolex 24 at Daytona, and we were there to see this year's endurance cars for both IMSA and WEC. The four classes were the same for 2025—with the hybrid GTP prototypes in the top class, the spec LMP2 prototypes below, plus two production sports-car classes, GTD Pro and GTD. There were some shakeups in teams, though, with big names like Ganassi missing from the Cadillac cars and dozens of new driver lineups, although there were plenty of familiar names, including several former Formula 1 racers including Kevin Magnussen and Romain Grosjean. Scroll through to see some of what we saw on the last weekend in January 2025. Car and Driver social media editor Carter Fry gets the golden ticket. So shiny and new. They don't look like that at the end. Ford made up for a rough start in 2024 with a win in 2025. Felipe Nasr, Nick Tandy, and Laurens Vanthoor compare notes on the overall win. Porsche took the GTP class win and the overall race win. When the sun goes down, the track gets cold but the action stays hot. The crowds at the 2025 race show an obvious increase in enthusiasm for racing. The banking at Daytona is a steep 31 degrees in the turns. Blink and you'll miss 'em. The Ferris wheel may be a pricey $8 ride, but it gives a good view of the track. Golden hour. Rexy is a hybrid, running on a mix of gasoline and human flesh. Last of the light. The Mazda MX-5 Cup offers an affordable entry point to racing, but it is just as ferociously contested as the main classes. Corvette had a drama-packed race at Daytona. Seeing different class cars on the same track ups the excitement and keeps a race reporter very busy. Respected auto racing journalist Marshall Pruett talking with a group of college students all studying engineering and motorsports management. Kevin Magnussen talks about going elbows out for the last hour of the race. A pit stop for the crowd favorite. Sunrise over the track after a sleepless night, but still with hours to go. Have a hot dog for Bill France Jr. Jamie Chadwick, three-time W series champion and Grand Marshal for the 2025 Rolex 24 at Daytona. A well-fought win. Even the coffee is sponsored.
