Bhadra creating history by penning down Pravesanotsavam song

For the first time in Pravesanotsavam history, a poem by a student has been turned into the Pravesanotsavam song. Mazha meghangal panthal orukkiya puthu varsham... penned by Bhadra Hari is the Pravesanotsavam song this year. Bhadra, a student of SVV Higher Secondary School, Thamarakudy, Kottarakara, Kollam district, is delighted that her poem has been selected as the Pravesanotsavam song. 'My friends and teachers said they were very happy for me.' She took around two days to write it after she came across an advertisement calling for entries. She then sang it for her parents Hareendranath R., Adoor taluk deputy tahsildar, and Suma S., a high school Biology teacher. Her tune is different from the one that the song has now been set to, by music director Alphons Joseph. In school arts fete Bhadra has been putting pen to paper since she was in Class V. She secured A grade for Malayalam poetry writing at the State School Arts Festival in Classes VIII and IX. She has also brought out a collection of poems called Dhanumasa Pournami that was released at last year's Pravesanotsavam at her school. She likes to read too. Both prose and poetry interest her; she is loath to pick one. Bhadra, who has been learning music for over a year, has also taken part in the light music competition at the sub-district level in Class X and won the first prize. A bright student who secured A+ grade in all subjects in the SSLC examinations, Bhadra wants to study Humanities in Class XI for she likes history. She dreams of doing her higher studies in Malayalam and becoming a college lecturer.
