Oman defend West Asian Beach Volleyball title
MUSCAT: The Oman national beach volleyball team proved once again their dominance in the region as they clinched the West Asian Beach Volleyball Championship title for the second consecutive time. The formidable duo of Hood al Jalboubi and Mazin al Hashmi secured the championship in the second round of the regional tournament which was held in Amman, Jordan from May 20 to 25. Oman's victory was sealed with a commanding 2-0 win over Qatar's team, Mahdi and M Ihab, in the final match — mirroring the outcome of the previous edition, which concluded on May 10 in Doha, Qatar, where Oman also triumphed over the hosts. In the final, Oman edged Qatar with identical set scores of 21-18, 21-18, displaying consistency and tactical excellence on the courts of Princess Aya Complex in Al Hussein Youth City. The Omani champions advanced to the final after a resounding semifinal victory over Lebanon's Jad and El Chabib (2-0), following a competitive quarterfinal where they edged their compatriots Saleh and Khalfan. Oman team during the final stage In the group stage, the duo of Hood and Mazin began their campaign with a 2-0 win against the host nation, Jordan. Oman's second team — featuring Saleh and Khalfan — also secured a 2-0 victory over Saudi Arabia. Both teams maintained their momentum the following day as Oman team (1) beat Lebanon by 2-0 while Oman team (2) blanked Jordan team 2-1. Both Oman teams received ticket to the knockout stages. The championship saw participation from six West Asian countries: Oman, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Lebanon and Jordan. A total of 12 men's teams and 10 women's teams competed in the high-energy tournament. This recent triumph adds to Oman's growing reputation in regional beach volleyball. In the first round of the West Asian Beach Volleyball Tour, held earlier this month in Doha, Hood al Jalboubi and Mazin al Hashmi captured the Asia Men's Tour title, defeating Qatar's team in straight sets to secure top honors. The Oman Volleyball Association (OVA) praised the team's performance citing it as a promising sign ahead of future continental and international events.

Oman set for Round 2 of West Asian beach volleyball
MUSCAT, MAY 22 Oman beach volleyball team is all set to commence their participation at the second round of the West Asian Beach Volleyball Championship which began on Wednesday in Jordan and will run until Monday. Teams of Hood al Jalboubi and Mazin al Hashmi, Haitham al Shuraiqi and Ahmed al Hosni will represent Oman in the West Asian event. The tournament saw participation of six national teams including: Oman, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Lebanon and hosts Jordan. A total of 12 men's teams besides 10 women's teams are participating to vie for the coveted medals of the West Asian event. The matches are taking place at the Princess Aya courts in Al Hussein Youth City. The Omani duo of Hood al Jalboubi and Mazin al Hashmi delivered an outstanding show in the first round of West Asia Men's Tour, hosted in Doha city, Qatar and concluded on May 10. Oman's pair won the title following their thrilling victory over hosts Qatar by 2-0 in the final. In earlier matches of the opening day, Jordan team defeated Saudi Arabia 2-0 while Jordan team 2 suffered a 2-0 loss against Lebanon team. Saudi Arabia team beat Kuwait 2-0 while Lebanon team outclassed Kuwait 2-0. A technical meeting was organised ahead of the tournament. During the meeting, the officials approved the squads of the teams besides player eligibility was confirmed, and the draw for the tournament groups was conducted for both the men's and women's competitions. Hosts Jordan are taking part in both men's and women's category including two players' pairs in men's including: Rashid al Alwan and Ahmed al Awamleh, Ayham Khanfar with Ahmad al Atallah. In the women's competition, Jordan are fielding four teams represented by Farah al Atout, Nancy Ayash, Rahaf Haymour, Shahd al Awamleh, Raghad Haymour, Ghaidaa al Ashoush, Katerina Haddad and Batoul al Muhaseri.

Oman beach volleyball reach 2nd West Asia final
MUSCAT, MAY 10 Oman's national beach volleyball team, led by the duo Mazin al Hashmi and Hood al Jalbubi, continued their successful campaign in the West Asia Championship held in Doha, Qatar, after securing a well-deserved 2-0 victory over Saudi Arabia to advance to the final. The first set began with clear dominance from the Saudi team, who capitalised on Oman's early handling errors. Riyadh Ali opened the scoring with a precise drop shot, followed by three consecutive points amid Oman's defensive lapses, putting Saudi Arabia ahead 4-1. However, the Omani duo didn't give up. Mazin and Hood gradually regained their rhythm with short plays and powerful serves that disrupted Saudi's reception. Mazin kept the pressure on with consecutive points, while Hood excelled at the net with a successful block, leveling the score at 8-8. From that point on, Oman took full control of the set, exploiting Saudi's serving and receiving errors to extend their lead and close out the set 21-15. In the second set, Oman started strong again with Mazin al Hashmi opening the scoring and continuing to add points through powerful serves, while Hood maintained his impressive performance to push the score to 4-1. Saudi Arabia responded with three consecutive points to tie the set, but Oman regained the lead through Hood, who made it 6-5. The contest remained tight until Oman gradually widened the gap, with Mazin al Hashmi securing the final point to seal the set once again at 21-15. Badr al Subhi, Oman's national beach volleyball coach, expressed his great joy at the team's qualification for the West Asia Championship final. He said, Congratulations to everyone on reaching the final. We are here to defend the title we won last year in Jordan, and we pray that the players succeed today in claiming the title once again. He added, 'We entered this championship after the conclusion of the local league, placed in Group B alongside Bahrain. We managed to win and advance to the quarterfinals, where we defeated Qatar 2-1. We continued our journey successfully by beating Saudi Arabia in the semifinals.' The coach highlighted the team's noticeable improvement, saying, 'The team's performance is improving day by day, and the players' focus increases with every match. We hope to complete this journey by winning the title.' In conclusion, Al Subhi thanked the Oman Volleyball Association (OVA) for its support and stressed the importance of continuing to participate in regional, continental and international tournaments to improve the team's global ranking. He stated, 'The coming period requires more participation in Asian tours and world championships, because rankings are the key to entering major competitions. The better our ranking, the greater our chances of qualifying for global events.'
