Southport killer's cushy life in prison despite hurling boiling water over guard

Axel Rudakubana killed Elsie Dot Stancombe, seven, Alice Aguiar, nine, and six-year-old Bebe King at a Taylor Swift-themed dance class in Southport, Merseyside last summer Southport killer Axel Rudakubana has jail treats such as Maltesers and McCoy's delivered to his cell by prison officers - despite attacking a guard with boiling water. Rudakubana is still able to buy the snacks at London's Belmarsh Prison, where he is serving at least 52 years for killing three girls at a dance class. Sources inside the clink have called this "shocking and disgusting" as Rudakubana, 18, threw scalding water over a prison officer there earlier this month. ‌ The triple killer is also allowed to call family, have religious visits and receive money from relatives while at the jail in Plumstead area of southeast London. Responding to the development, Shadow Justice Secretary Robert Jenrick said: "I cannot believe this monster has been allowed to keep these privileges. ‌ "It's a disgrace. He should be stripped of them immediately, no questions asked. It's the least the victims of his horrendous crime would expect. We've got to regain control of prisons before an officer is killed." ‌ The stricken prison guard was rushed to hospital earlier this month after the attack. Yet, Rudakubana is still able to fill out a sheet and get treats sent to his cell, often delivered by close colleagues of the victim. "He's been spending £5.50 a week in the canteen since the attack, and can spend it on anything he likes as long as it's not dangerous. He's still allowed to buy things like Maltesers and Pringles crisps if he fancies them," a source told The Sun. "Prison officers, who are the colleagues of the guy he attacked, have to collect his canteen order and deliver it to his cell. It's made some angry and upset. The array of goods on the canteen list is quite staggering and it has all the decent brands." ‌ While the thug's TV has been removed from his cell and his time out of his cell has been limited, Rudakubana can also buy toiletries, vitamins, drinks and biscuits from the shop. The source added: "The principle of it is shocking — and he's been spending what he can every week since the attack. It's very rare for a governor to completely strip a prisoner of canteen rights but I'd say this is an instance where it's justified." The insider claims the teen has been sent money from his family since the attack on the officer, and has had phone calls with relatives. The attack saw Rudakubana, formerly of Banks, Lancashire, was allowed a kettle and is believed to have used it to boil water ahead of the "serious assault" on May 8. But he is, as a result, barred from buying anything that could be turned into a weapon, such as tins of tuna, after the jagged edge of a can was used to slash Sara Sharif's killer dad Urfan at Belmarsh in January. It is believed the guard in the Rudakubana case has returned to work. Speaking to The Sun, the Prison Service said it did not comment on individuals.

Paul, 40, who is from Barrhead, said: "When Sophie pulled the crisp out we all said 'Aww, look at that'. "She was all set to eat it but I managed to get a photo before she crunched. "It put a smile on our faces and we hope it will put a smile on other people's faces too."

Nell's original creations have now sent TikTok users into a frenzy for crisp sandwiches, with one user writing on the platform: "Honestly that looks like my idea of heaven." Another TikTok user added: "This looks utterly insane." Through showcasing her recipes Nell hopes to champion the use of crisps in sandwiches more often, as she said that crisps are often viewed as an "afterthought". 'The hardest thing to achieve with a pre-made sandwich is the crunch,' Nell explained. 'Why not try and make the crisp the hero product?' So far, Nell has dabbled with Scampi Fries, Mini Cheddars, Discos, Frazzles and more. "I've always picked challenges that I think are going to be relatable to my audience, which is majority UK,' said Nell. "Crisps are something we all enjoy, something we're all a part of. 'I'm just showing people you can re-imagine something you have known for years in a new way to find a little bit of excitement out of something very commonplace.' The 28-year-old also said she used to view her passion for creating sandwiches as a "side hustle" after reviewing supermarket Christmas meal deals, while at university. 'It then turned into an annual feature and during lockdown, I started creating my own recipes and food blogs," she said. From showcasing her recipes on TikTok Nell has now pursued her own sandwich catering business based in London.
