It gives customers the chance to win a range of prizes including holidays, cash and free food. McDonald's has not yet revealed what is up for grabs this year. The competition will kick off on Wednesday, September 10. Those who wish to take part in the Monopoly game collect stickers from their food packaging that represent train stations or colour coordinated road names - much like the classic game. However, not all menu items are worth the same amount, and this determines how you redeem a prize. For example, instant win food prizes can be redeemed at any McDonald's branch by handing the token over at the counter when you order. You'll need to hand the game pieces over to a member of staff when you collect your meal. Also not all food items feature the peelable stickers. The race is on for customers to collect multiple stickers to try and gather together property sets that will put you in line to win some big prizes. McDonald's Spices Up Breakfast: Spicy McMuffin, New Sweets & Summer Meal Deals In the past, these have included a £2,000 Jet 2 Holiday and a £100 Virgin Experience Day. There are also digital peel game prizes which you need the McDonald's app to play. There's a QR code on stickers that you can scan to see if you have won a prize. Over the past few years, winners were given cash as well as vouchers on digital peel games. Last year, the following menu items came with stickers 0.4 & 0.5 Cold Cups Medium & Large Fries 3 & 5 Chicken Selects Philly Cheese Stack Chicken Big Mac Large Salad Tray Cheese Sharebox McPlant McSpicy McCrispy Mozzarella Dipper Bag 0.3 & 0.4 Blended Ice Galaxy McFlurry Twix McFlurry Deli Wraps Veggie Wraps If you do not want to visit a store to play you can also order online via UberEats. McDonald's confirms 'long-awaited return' is coming on September 10
The popular promotion sees the fast food chain team up with an iconic game with the chance to win massive prizes McDonald's fans in the UK have been told to prepare for the return of a major deal that millions enjoy and take part in. It offers fast food fans the chance to turn their meals into something much more valuable if luck is on their side. The chain constantly changes its menu, offering new and exciting meals or treats to try alongside mainstay favourites like the Big Mac or Quarter Pounder. But one event that comes around every year sees almost the entire menu become a little different: McDonald's Monopoly promotion. A spokesperson for McDonald's said: "Never fear, fans of Monopoly at McDonald's, the wait is almost over. Get ready for even more fun as McDonald's announces the long-awaited return of the game, under license from Hasbro, a leading games, IP and toy company, to all UK & Ireland restaurants on Wednesday, September 10." McDonald's Monopoly has been running in the UK since 2005. The promotion is similar to the classic board game, where customers collect game pieces from menu items to win prizes. These can range from quick in-store wins for items such as fries, wraps, drinks and McFlurries at no extra cost. In the past, collecting enough matching property stickers would make customers eligible to claim some amazing prizes. Certain menu items - including chicken nuggets, burgers, fries and cold drinks - will have a set of stickers attached. Larger meals offer more chances to win than medium, for example. These physical stickers can be peeled off to reveal either an 'instant win' that can be redeemed in a McDonald's store. Or, stickers might have a property from the Monopoly board that eventually combine with others from the same colour set to earn a more valuable prize via the McDonald's App. At the time of writing, the fast food giant hasn't revealed what will be on offer for those willing to take on the Monopoly challenge. However, in the past, grand prizes have included £100,000 in cash, MINI Electric cars and holidays with Jet2 worth £2,000. Some prizes that don't require a block of real estate included instant discounts that could be applied to purchases from other brands like Moonpig, Virgin Experiences, Best Western Hotels, Photobox and more. At this point (August 13), McDonald's has not confirmed the current roster of prizes that will be up for grabs in 2025. Despite running for years globally, people are always sceptical about the number of prizes that get claimed. Over on Reddit, people have claimed they were lucky enough to win. One said: "I won a mini in 2018. Didn't believe it till it turned up on the drive!" Another added: "Not me but my pal won a hot tub!" A third wrote: "Back when the brown spaces won low-value prizes instead of meals I won a Bluetooth speaker, it wasn't bad and I used it for years." Someone else said: "A year of free Now TV, if you consider that meaningful." And, a fifth person shared: "My mum won a TV many years ago."
