It was confirmed by the Easter Road club earlier this year that Harry McKirdy would be moving on after two and a half years in Leith, joining Bromley in the fourth tier of English football. He was let go at the end of the season but will remain in that division as he signs a 12 month contract with Crawley Town. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Managed by Scott Lindsey who was gaffer when McKirdy hit a goal trail at Swindon Town, the pair have now reunited at the Red Devils. Lindsey believes the former Hibs man is someone their fans are going to savour. Former Hibs player completes summer transfer He said: 'Harry is a fantastic talent, and is someone I have worked closely with before. The fans are going to love Harry; he's a great character, and he will score and create goals. He's a signing that we really wanted and worked hard to get, so we are pleased to get it over the line.' A club statement read, with mention to his time at Hibs: 'Crawley Town Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of forward Harry McKirdy on a one-year contract. The forward grew up in Stoke-on-Trent and spent much of his early years with the Stoke City Academy before moving to Aston Villa in his teenage years. McKirdy worked his way up the age groups at Aston Villa, featuring for the U23 team before heading out for his first loan spell to Stevenage. The forward also spent half of the 2017/18 season at fellow League Two side Crewe Alexandra, picking up three goals in 16 appearances. 'Following the two loan spells, Harry left Aston Villa on a permanent basis to join Carlisle United. A fruitful spell in Cumbria saw McKirdy move to Port Vale at the start of the 2020/21 season, before signing with Swindon Town the following year, where he linked up with Scott Lindsey for the first time.' Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Ex Hibs player verdict on deal The statement continued: 'It was at Swindon where the striker enjoyed his most successful spell in front of goal. He scored on his debut for the Robins, and he kept up that form, tallying 23 goals and contributing 10 assists in 44 games. His performances were recognised as he was named in the League Two Team of the Season and was awarded the Swindon Town Player of the Year at the end of the 2021/22 campaign. More recently, McKirdy had a spell with Hibernian in the Scottish Premier League and spent the second half of the 2024/25 season with fellow League Two side Bromley FC.' McKirdy said: 'It's really nice to be here, it feels good to link back up with Lindsey again, and hopefully I can help get the boys promoted back up to League One and be a part of it again. When I worked with Scott before, it was the best time that I had in football, and we had some good times together, so I am hoping that I can rekindle them.'

Former Hibs ace released by latest club in EFL as he enters free agency months after Easter Road exit
The London-born former Hibs forward departs an English League Two outfit. Sign up to our Hibs football newsletter Sign up Thank you for signing up! Learn More Sorry, there seem to be some issues. Please try again later. Submitting... Harry McKirdy has departed English League Two side Bromley, becoming a free agent after a short spell with the Ravens following his Easter Road exit in February. The Hayes Lane outfit confirmed the news as part of their retained list following the conclusion of their campaign which saw them finish 11th in the fourth-tier table. He scored twice in nine outings for Bromley is expected by many EFL commentators to be reunited with his former side Crawley Town next term. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad The 28-year-old ex-Aston Villa prospect arrived at Hibs a from Swindon on the summer Deadline Day in 2022, and he endured frustrations far beyond football during his time in Edinburgh – including overcoming a serious health condition. He spent time out on at Swindon Town and returned for the pre-season last summer. Gray was happy to let forward McKirdy leave Hibs Hibs boss David Gray admitted that McKirdy, who made a total of 33 appearances for the Scottish Premiership third-placed finishers, had endured a 'difficult' time in the capital. And the gaffer said the 'termination' of his contract with half a season remaining suited everyone. At he time, Gray said: 'I wish Harry nothing but the best moving forward. His time at Hibs has been difficult, but he worked hard to get back to full fitness over the summer after missing the majority of last season. Due to the number of options we have in the forward areas, his game-time this season has been incredibly limited, which is why this termination works best for all parties involved.' McKirdy left Easter Road without scoring a single goal for Hibs – a statistic made less surprising by factoring in the health concerns that undermined his attempts to establish himself as a starter. The well-travelled forward underwent serious heart surgery in the summer of 2023, followed by a long and slow period of physical rehabilitation before even being able to train with the first team. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Mackay explains why mid-season clearout was key Speaking on Premier Sports' Scottish Football Social Club on Monday, Hibs sporting director Malky Mackay explained that letting five players leave mid-season - including McKirdy - was a key factor in the European football-clinching run. He explained: 'We did 55 transactions over the summer RE players. It was a squad that had four manager's imprints over it. Totally unbalanced. Players signed on lengths of contracts - and money - that you raised eyebrows at. We had to trim the squad down. Sometimes you want players to move on for football reasons but they don't for many reasons. 'It is not easy. You want to move the squad along. One thing that was picked on and criticised a little in January was that we didn't sign enough players. We did one bit of business in the way but biggest thing that we did was that five senior players left the club. That was a huge move for the culture of the club and the togetherness (of the squad). Certainly going forward, we managed to then sign up and extend Chris Cadden, Jordan Smith, Lewis Miller. We have Jamie McGrath on a pre-contract too.'

Former Town favourite McKirdy available after departing Bromley
Former Swindon Town forward Harry McKirdy has departed Bromley after the expiry of his short-term contract with the League Two club. McKirdy is once again on the market as he was one of four players to depart Hayes Lane following the end of the League Two season. After being released by Hibernian on the final day of the January transfer window, the 28-year-old quickly joined The Ravens on a deal until the end of the campaign. READ MORE: Swindon make offers to five players as retained list released Town January transfer target released by League One club Swindon likely to be priced out of move for on-loan forward this summer During his stint with Bromley, McKirdy scored twice in nine appearances, including a lobbed finish against former club Carlisle United, and made a substitute appearance at the Nigel Eady County Ground when they faced Swindon in April. The Adver is aware of interest in the former Swindon Advertiser Player of the Season from multiple League Two clubs, but it is not believed that a second return to Town is likely this summer as they have other priorities. Ian Holloway is already hard at work assessing the options for his squad next season and made contract offers for Jack Bycroft, Connor Ripley, Nnamdi Ofoborh, Aaron Drinan, and Paul Glatzel last week. At present, Swindon only have Harry Smith, Danny Butterworth, Botan Ameen, George Alston, and Dani Gonzalez signed as attacking options for next season.

Former Carlisle United man McKirdy released by League Two club
Former Carlisle United forward Harry McKirdy has been released by Bromley after just three months with the club. He is one of four players let go by the Ravens after the League Two season. McKirdy is joined at the exit door at Hayes Lane by his former United team-mate Olufela Olomola as well as Louis Dennis and Myles Weston. The decisions follow Bromley's 11th-placed finish in their debut season in the EFL. McKirdy, who was on United's books in 2019/20, joined Andy Woodman's side in February after a spell with Hibernian. The 28-year-old made nine appearances and scored two goals, the second of those strikes coming in Bromley's 2-1 defeat at Brunton Park on March 22. That game saw McKirdy celebrate his goal by taunting home fans - who responded with chants and abuse in the former Swindon Town man's direction. United boss Mark Hughes later suggested McKirdy's antics had hindered his team on the day. McKirdy only managed two starts with the rest of his appearances coming from the substitutes' bench. His time at United saw 11 goals in 38 appearances. Olufela Olomola, left (Image: PA) For striker Olomola his release from the London club marks the end of a two-year stay at Bromley. The man who was on loan at Carlisle in 2019/20 made 54 appearances and scored 13 goals for the Ravens. Olomola, 27, scored six goals in 33 outings during his spell with the Blues. A third ex-Carlisle player, captain and central defender Byron Webster, remains at Bromley. The 38-year-old's contract is also up this summer but the Ravens have not yet confirmed their full retained and released list. Dr. Abdullah Belhaif Al Nuaimi Majlis discusses food security
Discussion focused on two main topics: food security and professional engineering, within the framework of supporting the UAE strategic vision to achieve sustainable development and ensure a safe and stable future in these two vital fields. Opening speech by His Excellency Dr. Abdullah Belhaif Al Nuaimi His Excellency Dr. Abdullah Belhaif Al Nuaimi opened the Majlis with a speech in which he welcomed the attendees, stressing the importance of Ramadan Majlis as a platform for exchanging ideas and promoting constructive dialogue on issues of concern to society. Al Nuaimi explained that the topics of food security and professional engineering were chosen due to their direct impact on development and the national economy, pointing out the need to work on developing effective strategies to ensure the sustainability of food resources, in addition to advancing the engineering field according to international standards. Food security in light of the growing population Professor Simon McKirdy, Deputy Vice Chancellor Global Engagement at Murdoch University, spoke about the challenges facing food security globally, noting that ensuring food security requires a delicate balance between agricultural production and environmental sustainability. Professor McKirdy explained that there are five main areas that must be focused on to achieve food security, including biosecurity to ensure the protection of crops and livestock from pests and diseases, and pesticide management due to the importance of finding solutions that reduce the environmental impact of using pesticides in agricultural production, in addition to choosing crops and livestock, and studying the possibility of growing crops that are more capable of withstanding changing climatic conditions. Professor McKirdy addressed the circular economy and the importance of reducing waste and recycling resources to achieve higher production efficiency, in addition to agricultural technology, represented in the use of modern technologies such as artificial intelligence and robotics to improve production efficiency. Professor McKerdy also praised the initiatives of the Emirate of Sharjah in enhancing food security, referring to the wheat cultivation project in the Mleiha area, which comes within the framework of the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, to transform the region into a sustainable agricultural oasis. Efforts of the Ruler of Sharjah in achieving food security The vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, was discussed as the cornerstone in enhancing food security in the Emirate of Sharjah, as His Highness launched many ambitious projects that enhance local production and reduce dependence on imports. The most prominent of these projects is the Mleiha Wheat Farm, which aims to transform the region into a major source of wheat production, contributing to achieving food sustainability, in addition to 'Saba' Sanabel' (seven spikes) project, which reflects the trend towards developing grain cultivation in the emirate. His Highness was also keen to launch the "Mleiha Dairy" project, which is one of the pioneering projects that support local dairy production, ensuring the provision of high-quality food products and enhancing the independence of the agricultural sector in the emirate. A number of attendees interacted amidst the exchange of opinions and ideas between the participants, in an atmosphere of friendliness and appreciation for this type of Majlis that combine thought and practice, and contribute to enhancing community awareness of important strategic issues, as they spoke about the importance of working towards achieving food security. Importance of Water in Achieving Food Security Professor Dr. Moataz Ali, Professor at the University of Sharjah, discussed the importance of water as a basic element in achieving food security, explaining that most Arab countries suffer from water scarcity, which requires searching for alternative solutions such as desalination of seawater and water recycling. Professor Dr. Moataz Ali pointed out that the UAE has 71 desalination plants that provide about 6 million cubic metres per day, which represents 14% of the local market needs. In this context, His Excellency Dr. Abdullah Belhaif Al Nuaimi confirmed that the UAE relies on a combination of desalination of seawater and groundwater, and also has marine research centres that contribute to finding innovative solutions to enhance water security. He stressed the importance of increasing local food production and reducing dependence on imports, pointing out the need to double production over the next ten years to achieve self-sufficiency. Professional Engineering Role in Enhancing Engineers' Efficiency The Majlis then moved to the second topic, professional engineering. Professor Ghanem Kashwani, Professor of Civil Engineering and Advisor to the Emirates Society of Engineers, presented a comprehensive vision on the importance of adopting the professional engineering system to classify engineers and raise their efficiency according to international standards. Professor Kashwani explained that the engineering system in many countries is based on classifying engineers into three main grades: Graduate Engineer: An engineer who has obtained his university degree and begins to gain practical experience. Professional Engineer: An engineer who has completed a certain number of years of experience and passed specialised professional tests. Fellow Engineer: An engineer who has extensive experience and supervises major projects. Professor Kashwani pointed out that adopting such system in the UAE will contribute to improving the quality of engineering projects and ensuring that engineering knowledge is updated in line with the latest technical developments. Ongoing Professional Development for Engineers Professor Subaih Khasaf, Advisory Member of the British Association of Civil Engineers, and Professor Abdul Rahim Sabouni, Fellow of the American Association of Civil Engineers, stressed the importance of continuing professional development for engineers, explaining that maintaining professional membership requires engineers to submit an annual record of their engineering activities, which includes attending specialised training courses, participating in international engineering conferences, and publishing scientific research in peer-reviewed journals. They pointed out that this approach ensures continuous learning and keeping pace with technological changes, which enhances engineers' ability to apply global best practices in their future projects. Conclusion and Recommendations At the Majlis conclusion, His Excellency Dr. Abdullah Belhaif Al Nuaimi stressed the need for joint work between different sectors to achieve food security and enhance professional engineering. His Excellency Dr. Abdullah Belhaif Al Nuaimi pointed out the importance of supporting scientific research and investing in modern technologies to ensure the sustainability of resources and enhance the UAE's competitiveness at the global level. He also called on the attendees to continue the dialogue and work to implement the initiatives and proposals presented during the Majlis.
