Six times crime shows have filmed at Watford's former police station
The former Watford Police Station and court are set for demolition, but that has not stopped them being busy with filming.
Watford Magistrates' Court shut down in 2017 and the cops moved to George Street last year, leaving the building on the corner of Shady Lane and Clarendon Road vacant.
McLaren Living then submitted plans to knock it down and build a mixed-use scheme including 314 homes there, which were approved earlier this may therefore have expected it to sit empty for years before work could take place, but instead it has become an ad-hoc filming hub with a slew of productions over the last 12 months.
Productions we know have filmed at the site:
Adolescence

It is believed to have been episode three, in which Jamie speaks to a psychologist.
Code of Silence

Many of the scenes were shot inside so it was not as eye-catching for residents walking by as later filming, but promotional images feature a recognisable shot of lead Rose Ayling-Ellis at the front of the station.
Period Police Show
Period piece filming closed Shady Lane (Image: Stephen Danzig) There was more to see outside when what appeared to be a period police drama was shot in early October, 2024.
Several old-fashioned vehicles parked up outside the station, including marked police cars and a black cab. A telephone box was installed at the front, with information inside stating that it is meant to be in Rye, Sussex.
It remains unclear what production was underway.
'Emergency' Scene

Traffic restrictions were used in Shady Lane.
Warner Bros

A large black sheet was hung over the entrance and set lighting equipment bearing Warner Bros branding was seen outside as the crew packed up following filming on July 21.
It has not been confirmed whether the filming was for Harry Potter or another Warner Bros production.
