CM Punk Accuses Vince McMahon For Sabotaging His WWE Return, Years Before Comeback At Survivor Series 2023
CM Punk has revealed that Vince McMahon, the former chairman of the WWE, sabotaged his return to the company, years before he made a momentous came back at Survivor Series 2023. Punk, who will be challenging Gunther for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at Summerslam in New Jersey next month, recalled that he had a secret meeting with McMahon and Triple H, the current chief operating officer of the WWE around 2018 or 2019, to discuss a potential WWE return. Punk went on to add that they had an "handshake agreement" for the same and how it didn't work out, also accusing McMahon on "ghosting" him. The former WWE champion also revealed that McMahon was personally calling him to cut out the middleman, having initially communicated with him through his agents. "We had a meeting and we had a handshake agreement and then he ghosted me. So, that's why it didn't happen. Unbelievable," Punk was quoted as saying by Fightful. Punk also revealed how the meeting help him and Triple H bury the hatchet over their ever-so-volatile relatioship over the years. "That would have been probably the first time that me and Triple H probably started chipping it away at any problems or drama that we had in the past," he said. "That was the first instance." Punk had left WWE after Royal Rumble 2014 due to a fallout with the management, accusing them of ignoring his serious health issues. His departure from WWE led to a bitter rift that lasted for years, before both the parties made up to give his return a green light in 2023. He made his return to the WWE, appearing after the mainevent Men's WarGames match in his hometown Chicago. Punk appeared post-match after Cody Rhodes, Seth "Freakin" Rollins, Jey Uso, Sami Zayn, and Randy Orton defeated The Judgment Day (Damian Priest, Finn Balor, "Dirty" Dominik Mysterio, and JD McDonagh) and Drew McIntyre. However, this led to a strong reaction from Rollins, who didn't seem happy with Punk coming back to the WWE, paving the way for an ongoing storyline.

Argonauts' injury bug continues. Now they've lost a star player after he was hit by a car
The Toronto Argonauts just can't seem to catch a break this season on the injury front. As a couple of much-needed reinforcements are returning for the struggling defending Grey Cup champions, another key member is going to miss extended time. Reigning CFL top lineman Ryan Hunter suffered a serious shoulder injury this week when he was hit by a car while riding a scooter in Toronto. A team official confirmed Hunter is expected to be out at least six to eight weeks. The 30-year-old North Bay, Ont., native had been one of the most durable players on a banged-up Argos team, appearing in all five games this season. His untimely injury comes as the Argos await the return of quarterback Chad Kelly , who suffered a broken leg in last year's East final and has already been ruled out for Thursday's road game against the Montreal Alouettes (3-2). Nevertheless, the Argos will welcome back two key players who had been sidelined with injuries as they try and dig themselves out of a 1-4 hole following a bye week. All-star linebacker Wynton McManis and running back Deonta McMahon have been cleared to return to action after missing several weeks. McManis, 30, suffered a right-knee injury during the team's first home game of the season against the Calgary Stampeders . McMahon, 25, sprained his ankle in the same game. Their return is a breath of fresh air for an Argos team still struggling to find its footing. 'Wynton is the leader of that defence and he gets those guys lined up, communicates the calls,' head coach Ryan Dinwiddie said after Tuesday's practice. 'Getting him back I think is going to elevate the play of the other guys. We know who Wynton is, he always makes plays, he's got a knack for finding the football and we need that this week.' The Argos have especially suffered in the running game this season, averaging a league-worst 46.2 rushing yards per game after Week 6, with a total of 231 rushing yards in five games. The return of McMahon should help. 'D-Money (McMahon) gives us that explosiveness, the shiftiness. We need him at the back for catching the ball and we haven't had that for a few weeks,' Dinwiddie said. The head coach expects his team, fresh off a week of rest, to cut down on its turnovers and take care of the football on both sides of the field while winning the special-teams matchup against Montreal — a team that already beat Toronto in the season opener . 'The penalties have been killing us. When we play clean football, play physical, execute, I think we should have a great day,' he said. McManis said it was tough to be on the sidelines watching the team struggle and not being able to help on the field. That said, it was also important to let others lead, 'get their feet wet and kind of see what we got' in his absence. Now healthy, McManis is looking forward to being able to 'fly around, make some plays' and ultimately help his team get some wins. Staying upbeat, despite their record, is also important. 'I think the culture around here that we have to keep everybody's spirits up,' he said. 'No one around here feels like a loser, no one around here has a loser mentality. None of us feel like (we're a 1-4 team). We just know we've got to have some urgency and detail in getting the job done, just trying to be right.'

Shock detail in Julian McMahon's death certificate adds mystery to actor's final months amid Scientology link bombshell
An stunning detail in Julian McMahon's death certificate has fueled further speculation about the actor's mysterious final months of his life, after a Scientology link emerged following his death at the age of 56. The Australian-American Nip/Tuck did not have a funeral, reported on Thursday after obtaining the star's death certificate. McMahon's body was instead quietly cremated in Clearwater, Florida, where he died as an inpatient at the Morton Plant Hospital on July 2. His death certificate stated Florida's family-owned Eternal Cremation Services handled the actor's body. A spokesperson for Eternal Cremation Services told "there was not" a funeral held anywhere for McMahon and could not confirm whether his wife, Kelly, attended his cremation at Palm State Crematory. It's been revealed he died from lung metastasis linked to head and neck cancer, according to the Pinellas County cremation approval report obtained by with no autopsy report understood to come. The development follows the location of McMahon's death, Clearwater, raising questions from social media users about why the actor was in the city, where the Church of Scientology is widely known to dominate. Adding mystery to his presence in the city where the church is headquartered, McMahon's address on his death certificate is listed as a residence on Ventura Boulevard, Encino, California. However, this is a building reportedly home to a showbiz accountancy firm and two other businesses, not residences. And there do not appear to be any property records linking McMahon and Kelly to the Clearwater area. The celebrity couple previously lived in a home in Hollywood Hills before selling it for $2.18 million USD ($3.3 million AUD). It's understood Scientology members own a large portion of real estate in Clearwater, home to A-listers who follow the controversial religion, including, most famously, actors Tom Cruise and John Travolta. One commentator recently took to X to question, 'Why was Julian McMahon in Clearwater when he died? Like, that's Scientology city.' "The only celebrities that do are usually Scientologists. Surprised, that's for certain!" another person said. Other people quelled the link as the debate continued on Reddit, where one person said McMahon just simply "loved the beach". "I don't see him being involved with Scientology," another person said. McMahon's career took off with his role as Cole Turner in the hit supernatural television series Charmed from 2000 to 2003. After Charmed, he gained wider recognition from 2003 to 2010 as plastic surgeon Dr Christian Troy in the medical drama Nip/Tuck. On the big screen, McMahon is best known for playing Marvel villain Dr. Doom in Fantastic Four (2005) and its 2007 sequel Rise of the Silver Surfer. His other film credits include Premonition, RED, Paranoia, You're Not You, Swinging Safari, and, most recently, Australian film The Surfer opposite Nicolas Cage. The only son of former Prime Minister Sir William McMahon is survived by his wife Kelly, an author, and his daughter, Madison (Maddy) McMahon, 25, whom he shared with his ex-wife, model and actress Brooke Burns.

Colorado childhood cancer survivor leads off first-ever Courage Cruise bike tour
The Courage Classic is Children's Hospital Colorado Foundation's biggest fundraiser. Over two-days, millions of dollars are raised by cyclists participating in a mountain bike tour. For the first time ever, there will be a 2-mile, family-fun route with very little elevation gain. The Children's Hospital Colorado Foundation has tapped an eager ambassador for the ride. "Hattie is a brain cancer survivor," said her dad, Gary McMahon. At just 4-months-old, doctors found a large, aggressive tumor at the base of Hadley's brain. "We did one round of chemo and there was no change, so then we did a second round and still no change," McMahon explained. Hadley's doctors were ready to send her home, but her parents were not ready to give up. "Eventually they went with the only other way to beat anything in the cancer world is radiation, so then we went with radiation," McMahon told CBS News Colorado. Doctors don't usually do radiation on children under the age of 3 because of the dangerous long-term side effects. It was a huge decision to put a 8 month old through 10 straight days of that kind of treatment. The McMahons felt they had no other choice. "Obviously, it went from a big, noticeable cancer to a dot," McMahon said. When Hadley left the hospital at 10 months old, she had already fought for her life and won. "Medicine is better off for it. They did a lot of research and papers where written and all this kind of thing. All these great things came of it, and most importantly Haddie. Haddie's still here hanging out with us," McMahon said. At 5 years cancer free, Hadley got to ring the survivors' bell. "So everybody knows I beat cancer," she said. She has a great sense of humor and an adventurous spirit. Now she's ready to take on the Courage Cruise. "Are you going to be in the Courage Classic?" CBS New Colorado Special Projects Producer Libby Smith asked. "I am," she replied emphatically. "What are you going to do in the Courage Classic?" Smith followed up. "I'm going to ride my chair," Hadley responded. While Hadley may be a medical miracle, she's also a precocious 5-year old, ready to push the limits of her power chair. "Cause I'm going to go so fast," she confided. "She plans on winning ... is what I've been told," her father added. Hadley is already a winner in every way. Her family is excited to show up for Children's Hospital at the Courage Classic just like the doctors and staff at Children's showed up for Hadley when she needed them most. "I love riding my bike," said Hadley's older brother Rhys. "I just got a new geared one." LINK: To register & get more information about Courage Cruise The Courage Classic is July 19 & 20, 2025. The start/finish line is at Copper Mountain. The Courage Cruise is one of the many routes that cyclists can ride.
