Moyvane runner Mollie O'Riordan to take up athletics scholarship in America
The Tarbert Comprehensive Leaving Cert student, who competes for Killarney Valley AC, has been granted a US athletics scholarship in McNeese Sate University in Louisiana, starting in August

Mollie O'Riordan went back to her school, Tarbert Comprehensive this week after the Easter holidays with good news. She had just been informed that she had been granted a US athletics scholarship in McNeese Sate University in Louisiana, starting in August. The Killarney Valley AC athlete is a Leaving Cert student and the final term of her second level education will be a busy one in sport and revision.
Mollie lives in Leitrim Middle, Moyvane and first became interested in athletics at a young age when she saw her older brother Bobby doing well in running. She started with sprints and joined Lios Tuathail AC, but by the age of 16 discovered that the longer 400m and 800m distances suited her better.
