Ariana Grande Is Joining the Cast of ‘Meet the Parents 4'
Watch out, Fockers! Ariana Grande is adding another role to her big-screen resumé by joining the cast of Meet the Parents 4. According The Hollywood Reporter and Variety, the superstar will show off her comedy chops opposite Ben Stiller and Robert De Niro, both of whom have starred in the hit franchise since Meet the Parents became a box office smash in 2000. (Blythe Danner and Teri Polo are also expected to return for a fourth go-round with the Focker family, though THR reports that their deals have yet to be finalized.) Producer Jane Rosenthal also teased in a Variety story published Wednesday (May 28) that 'Stiller is now the same age that [De Niro] was when we did the first one, and his kids have grown up, and they have to come home and meet the parents.' The comedy, which Stiller is also producing with John Lesher through their Red Hour Films banner, will mark Grande's first new film role in the wake of playing Glinda in the big-screen adaptation of Wicked, which earned the superstar a best supporting actress nomination at the 2025 Academy Awards as well as nods at the Golden Globes, BAFTAs and Screen Actors Guild Awards. Next, Grande will return as the Good Witch this fall in the musical's highly anticipated second installment, Wicked: For Good, which is slated to hit theaters across the U.S. on Nov. 21. In between Wicked movies, she also released a deluxe version of her 2024 album Eternal Sunshine, featuring six new bonus cuts including 'Twilight Zone,' 'Dandelion,' 'Hampstead' and an extended version of 'Intro (End of the World).' Ariana Grande to meet Ben Stiller, Robert De Niro on Meet The Parents 4
Ariana Grande has found her first big post-Wicked project, and she's moving from one love (musicals) to another (comedy). The Hollywood Reporter announced today that Grande will star opposite Ben Stiller and Robert De Niro in Meet The Parents 4. Blythe Danner and Teri Polo are also expected to return, though the deal hasn't been finalized yet. Details of the film are still being kept pretty guarded, but THR reports that the film will follow the son of Stiller and Polo's characters, who gets engaged to Grande's character, described as 'a ball-busting woman who seems all wrong for him.' The characters Grande has already played, from Victorious to Don't Look Up and Wicked, have been defined by varying levels of ditziness, so this sounds like… not that. Regardless, a comedy was something that has been on Grande's radar for a while. THR reporter Borys Kit added to the news on X/Twittter, writing 'Grande had been offered numerous roles from Universal, Sony & WB, passing on all of them. She even declined a comedy that would have given her the power to pick her co-star. One thing was clear, however: she was intent on finding a comedy.' Grande's Wicked co-stars also praised her skills often during their longest press tour of all time. Bowen Yang told Interview Magazine last November that he came up with the idea for the 'Game Night' sketch during her Saturday Night Live hosting gig last year, calling her 'very precise in terms of her timing and delivery.' Similarly, fellow co-star (and current romantic partner) Ethan Slater told GQ last year, 'My unbiased opinion is that she's one of the best comedians that's been in a movie in a long time. She's a genius.' Sounds like Robert De Niro might agree! More from A.V. Owen Wilson to return for Meet The Parents 4
Owen Wilson will return for 'Meet The Parents 4'. The 56-year-old actor will join Ben Stiller, 59, Robert De Niro, 81 and popstar Ariana Grande, 31, in the eagerly awaited fourth film in the 'Meet the Parents' franchise, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Owen is set to reprise his role as Kevin Rawley, the ex-fiancé of Teri Polo's Pam Focker. Polo and Blythe Danner will also return for the new film, the first in the series since 2010 movie 'Little Fockers'. John Hamburg - who wrote the screenplay for the previous three movies, 2000's 'Meet the Parents' and its follow-ups 'Meet the Fockers' and 'Little Fockers' – will pen the script. De Niro is expected to produce the film alongside his Tribeca Festival cofounder Jane Rosenthal through Tribeca Productions, while Stiller will also produce through his company Red Hour films. The original film starred Ben as Greg, a nurse who suffers a series of unfortunate events while visiting his girlfriend's parents (De Niro and Danner). Polo starred as Greg's girlfriend. Plot details for the new movie are being kept under wraps but, according to THR, one of the main storylines revolves around Grande's character. In the upcoming movie, the son of Greg (Stiller) and Pam Focker gets engaged to a 'ball-busting woman who seems all wrong for him', played by Grande. The film is set for release on November 25, 2026.
