Mother-Daughter Duo Arrested at Casablanca Airport in MAD 1.8 Million Scam
Marrakech – Police at Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca arrested a woman and her daughter on Sunday, as they arrived on a flight from a South Asian country.
The suspects were wanted by judicial authorities in Meknès on national search warrants related to an online investment fraud scheme.
According to security sources, the two women, along with two of their sons, allegedly operated a criminal network that used social media to lure victims into fake investment opportunities.
They created a fictitious company and promised unrealistic profits, ultimately defrauding victims of more than MAD 1.8 million ($180,000).
The investigation revealed that the suspects established an online channel specifically designed to target potential victims with fraudulent investment proposals.
Their elaborate scheme convinced numerous people to invest in what turned out to be completely fabricated business opportunities.
The two women have been placed in police custody while the investigation continues under the supervision of the public prosecutor's office. Authorities at the Meknès Judicial Police Department are working to apprehend the remaining suspects involved in the criminal operation.
Law enforcement officials are continuing their investigation to uncover all circumstances surrounding the case and to identify any additional individuals who may have participated in the fraudulent activities.
