NYC Restaurants Are Leaning Into Very Limited Off-Menu Burgers
is a born-and-raised New Yorker who is an editor for Eater's Northeast region and Eater New York, was the former Eater Austin editor for 10 years, and often writes about food and pop culture. Off-menu burgers have been part of New York's restaurant DNA for some time. And now, there's a newer wave of secret burgers available at restaurants around the city, as reported by the New York Post. Joining places like Soho's Raoul's and West Village Le B., Greenwich Village British pub Lord's offers only 12 burgers made with Welsh rarebit nightly, available for in-person orders. Other off-menu burgers can be ordered under very specific rules, like the one at Melissa Rodriguez's Crane Club, which is only available for 30 minutes from 5:30 to 6 p.m. Corner Bistro is closer to opening in the East Village As reported in May, West Village burger restaurant Corner Bistro is indeed expanding into the East Village. The team, under the Corner Bistro East, LLC., applied for their liquor license for the 94 Avenue A at East Sixth Street address on June 15. Earlier in May, owner Elizabeth McGrath submitted a community board proposal for the expansion, noting that it would have daytime and very late-night hours, a bar, and space for 50 people. Eater has reached out for more information. Brooklyn diner is being physically moved into a film studio lot The defunct Wythe Avenue diner in Williamsburg — which has starred in many films and television shows — is being physically relocated into a production lot in the Brooklyn Navy Yard, per New York Times.
