Fox's just-announced drama series Memory of a Killer has found its lead actor. John Tesh NBC Planning 100th Anniversary TV Special in 2026 'Lupin' Returning for Season 4 The role will mark a return to network television for Dempsey, who starred in Grey's Anatomy for more than a decade. He's coming off Dexter: Original Sin at Showtime and starred in the Italian series Devils from 2020-22, which aired on The CW in the United States. Fox announced the order for Memory of a Killer when it released its 2025-26 schedule on Monday. It's set to be a midseason entry at the network. Dempsey will play Angelo Ledda, who lives a double life as a 'fearsome NYC hitman and sleepy upstate Cooperstown photocopier salesman and father,' per the show's description. 'Having built and maintained a brick wall between his two worlds, Angelo has seamlessly juggled and compartmentalized for years. But now that's all about to change — Alzheimer's is a foe he can't outrun, and he knows too well how this ends, as his older brother is already lost to the condition. Angelo is exceptionally resourceful and talented, the best of the best. But he's about to be tested like never before — and now every minute counts. This is only made more difficult when he discovers that his wife's recent death may not have been an accident. So, when someone comes after his daughter — who is pregnant — it's clear the wall between his lives has been breached. Angelo must stop whoever's coming for his family by searching his past hits for clues, and the list is very long. Now Angelo must hunt down his mortal enemy while continuing to carry out hits without giving away his diagnosis and still making it home in time to cook dinner for his daughter.' Warner Bros. Jimmy Kimmel Ends Upfront Monologue With Heartfelt Request That Advertisers Support '60 Minutes': ‘They Deserve It'
After spending most of his time at the Disney upfronts mocking his parent company's competition, ABC late night host Jimmy Kimmel ended his monologue with a somber plea to the advertising community. 'I know it's not part of our multi-platform, but support '60 Minutes.' They deserve it. You have the power because you have the money. Support journalism. It's important, and it doesn't work without you,' Kimmel said on Tuesday. Typically, the upfronts are a time when each of the major media companies shows off their wares and unapologetically asks advertisers for money. Someone reaching across the broadcast aisle, so to speak, isn't just unusual. It's the exact opposite of what's expected from these presentations. Kimmel's ask that advertisers 'support '60 Minutes'' was in his prepared script for Tuesday and was not ad-libbed, TheWrap can confirm. The CBS staple is currently in the middle of a nasty legal battle with President Donald Trump. In December of 2024, Trump filed a $20 billion lawsuit against '60 Minutes,' claiming that the network deceptively edited an interview with Democratic nominee Vice President Kamala Harris. '60 Minutes' has maintained that it did not edit the interview any more than the series typically edits its interviews. The series also handed over an unedited transcript of the interview to the Federal Communications Commission. This lawsuit is especially complicated as it happened in the middle of Paramount and Skydance's planned $8 billion merger, a deal that requires FCC approval. Both parties are currently in the midst of mediation. The rest of Kimmel's upfronts presentation was typical late night banter. Kimmel started off his segment by trying to sell off the rights to name his grandchild. The bit, which was recorded a week ago, was similar to several jokes Seth Meyers made during his NBCUniversal presentation. Yes, Kimmel brought up the similarities and said that if Meyers has a problem with it, 'take it up with motherf–king Dre.' Check out the video of the bit below: The rest of Kimmel's monologue was as biting and inside-baseball as you would expect from any upfronts presentation. Kimmel mocked NBC's age, saying that once the network hits its 100th birthday next year it's 'finally old enough to watch CBS.' The ABC host also touted that across Disney+, Hulu and ESPN+, Disney has 164 million active users per month on its ad-supported platforms, noting that's 'more than twice the number Netflix has.' 'I don't have a joke for that. I just want you know we finally beat those motherf–kers at something,' Kimmel said. The late night host also joked about CBS's top comedy being called 'Ghosts,' 'which is also what most of their viewers will be soon,' and Fox developing 'Memory of a Killer,' a show about a hit man with Alzheimer's. 'That is a dumb idea, but at least CBS and Fox are making shows. ABC, we ordered one new show, and it's a spinoff of an old show, which really begs the question, what are we doing here? We risked our lives flying into Newark for this,' Kimmel said. 'If you went to a restaurant, and the waiter said, 'Our special tonight is last year's fish,' would you eat it? No, you would not. Our fish is not fresh. 'But you know what? We do have Season grandmother-f–king 2 of 'The Golden Bachelor,'' Kimmel said. 'Say what you will about ABC, we are still the only network where you can see Pop-Pop get a squeezer in a hot tub.' Fox has greenlit the drama series 'Memory of a Killer' for the 2025-2026 season. The announcement came ahead of Fox's upfront presentation to advertisers in New York on Monday. 'In the spirit of '24' and 'House,' we're introducing a daring new signature Fox lead, a complicated antihero facing unimaginable danger. We're excited to bring this gripping new thriller to life alongside our long-standing partners at Warner Bros.' The series is produced by Warner Bros. Television and Fox Entertainment. Ed Whitmore and Tracey Malone developed the series for television and executive produce alongside Cathy Schulman of Welle Entertainment. Arthur Sarkissian and Martin Campbell are also executive producers, along with Peter Bouckaert of Eyeworks. The original film was released in 2003. It starred Jan Decleir, Koen De Bouw, Werner De Smedt, Laurien Van den Broeck, and more. The film received positive reviews from critics upon its release. This will now be the second adaptation of the film. Previously, it was remade as the feature 'Memory' in 2022 starring Liam Neeson with Martin Campbell directing from a screenplay by Dario Scardapane. 'Memory of a Killer' is the latest new Fox scripted series announced in recent days, and it is not the only adaptation of a foreign project. The network is also working on the series 'Best Medicine' starring Josh Charles, which is based on the British show 'Doc Martin.' Elsewhere, Fox has picked up the event series 'The Faithful.'
