Poh Ling Yeow reveals why she FEARS winning a Gold Logie after her nomination for TV's top gong - and shares the offers she refuses to take

Poh Ling Yeow has opened up about the hidden challenges of fame, revealing she turns down lucrative offers if they don't align with her values. Speaking on the Mental As Anyone podcast this week, the MasterChef judge and former contestant described navigating life in the public eye as difficult. 'It is a treacherous path actually, because I think you have to be very careful about what you say yes to,' the 51-year-old said. 'I think you're as defined by what you're saying no to, so opportunities will come, but a lot of them are yucky and will leave a little trail of badness. 'I've made mistakes. I've said yes to things before and then later regretted it. I have done things before where I've … had a weird feeling about that and now I feel like it was a mistake, not huge ones, but just like, probably not as aligned with my brand as it should have been.' From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. Poh revealed she is highly selective about brand partnerships, preferring to keep her platform authentic. 'It is mainly commercial opportunities that are about money and using my platform,' she explained. 'I really make sure that the things that I attach myself to, like endorsements and stuff, are things that I really genuinely love. It is sort of very nuanced but I am very particular.' The beloved TV cook also keeps a low profile on social media, only using Instagram and an automated Facebook account. 'I have to really watch that space and make sure that I guard it and that when people look at that grid, they know who I am, not just what I sell. You have to be able to sleep at night,' she said. Poh is one of seven stars vying for the coveted Gold Logie this Sunday night, alongside Julia Morris, Ally Langdon, Sonia Kruger, Lisa Millar, Lynne McGranger and Hamish Blake. While the nomination is a career high, Poh admitted she struggles with the extra attention. 'I've just always been a little bit of a … like I'm on the fringe, my whole life,' she said. 'So with this being such an overt sort of acknowledgement of my existence and my work and everything, I don't know how to receive it because I'm not used to it. I'm used to being ignored. Even though it's such a high accolade of people basically accepting me, I just still find it really hard to absorb that.' Despite her fame, Poh has never been motivated by money or extravagance. 'What's good is I've known how to live off the sniff of an oily rag forever, being an artist, so it doesn't scare me to have to be really frugal,' she said. 'I've never stressed out about it (money) … and I don't need heaps. I'm just really happy with being able to pay the bills. I'm not someone that is extravagant at all.' It comes after the cook addressed swirling rumours she's stepping away from MasterChef Australia. Daily Mail revealed that Poh has signed on to return for the 2026 season, putting an end to recent speculation she was preparing to bow out. A spokesperson for the popular chef flatly denied the claims, revealing: 'There's no truth to the speculation. Poh is loving her time on MasterChef and feels like she's found her place.' Poh joined the judging panel in 2022 following the shock death of Jock Zonfrillo and the departures of Melissa Leong and Andy Allen.

‘Mental as anyone': Entertainment journalist Jonathon ‘J-Mo' Moran opens up about mental health struggles

'It's been a fabulous, wonderful, awesome career' which included going on sets of movies in New Zealand, interviewing Michael Buble, Madonna, Cher, and countless other big names, even striking friendships with famous people others can only dream of getting close to. That's not what he wanted to do with his time and his platform. 'I've found real purpose in sharing my story and other people's stories around mental health,' he told Bridge. 'I've experienced trauma in my life. Not saying it's more trauma than anyone else, but it's real trauma,' he added. 'The thing that I have is a platform and ability to share that because I've come out the other side. 'I am strong today. I may not be tomorrow, I wasn't yesterday. But I have the ability to share this story.' Moran's goal is to reclaim the word 'mental' and destigmatise mental health struggles. His years of working closely with celebrities helped him realise that truly everyone struggles, no matter how famous you are or how much money you have in the bank. He wants everyone to know there is nothing shameful about that and that, in fact, sharing our vulnerabilities is a strength. Because it is based off Moran's real-life experiences, the book includes some episodes with celebrities, but none of them are gratuitous name-dropping. 'There are certain lines I won't cross,' he said. 'The celebrities that I have touched off in the book are celebrities I've felt a connection with,' he added, mentioning the late Carrie Fisher as an example of someone with whom he struck up a friendship with. Moran speaks candidly about his struggles and says he endeavours 'to show a sense of vulnerability' in the hopes it encourages other people to open up about their own. 'I can't get people to share their stories if I'm not truthful with my own. 'Yesterday morning I could not stop crying. Right this second I'm great. But life is ups and downs,' he said. 'I check in with my GP regularly, I have an appointment with my counsellor next week.' Entertainment Journalist Jonathon Moran's new book. Moran believes the world is shifting and audiences no longer care about superficial celebrity gossip - of which social networks are filled up. 'We're moving back to authenticity, as lame as that word sounds. You, out there, the audience, are demanding more,' he said. In Mental As Anyone, Moran gives the audience what they demand. Warts and all. Mental as Anyone is published by Wiley and available now.

Jelena Dokic hard launches new romance in loved-up post: ‘So glad I found you'

The tennis world has been quick to congratulate Aussie tennis icon Jelena Dokic as she finally went public with her new relationship. The much-loved commentator hard-launched her latest beau, Yane Veselinov, on Instagram on Monday afternoon. Posting a picture of her and Veselinov, the 42-year-old wrote: 'You are my calm, safe, peaceful and happy place. So glad I found you.' 5 Jelena Dokic unveiled her new romance in an Instagram post in July 2025. Instagram The post was inundated with messages of support, as fans went wild. 'COULDN'T LOVE THIS MORE,' one fan wrote. 'Oh YAYYYYYY!!!! So happy for you xxxx you deserve all the joy and happiness life has to offer,' another commented. 'This makes me so happy! You deserve all the happiness in the world Jelena!' a third wrote. While others commented 'best news ever,' 'so happy for you' and 'so happy for your happiness – you deserve this love.' 5 The beloved commentator, here with Madison Keys in January 2025, was previously in a long-term relationship with Tin Bikic. Getty Images The tennis star turned commentator previously dated Tin Bikic for 19 years before the relationship ended in 2022. Since their split, Dokic has rebuilt her life and career and has also opened up in depth about the torment she endured at the hands of her late father, Damir. The former world No. 4 tennis player survived physical and emotional abuse from her father along with cowardly online trolling over her appearance, to forge a successful career as a commentator and author. And her news of her relationship comes just weeks after she appeared on the Mental As Anyone podcast, the beloved tennis champion spoke about her love of children and the possibility of exploring adoption. 'I was in a relationship for almost 19 years from the age of 20 and right when we split up, we were about to start trying for a family. 5 Jelena Dokic is formerly the world No. 4. Getty Images 'Maybe one day. One day will I adopt? Possibly. It's something I would love to do because I love kids.' Dokic broke onto the tennis scene at just 16 years of age back in 1999 as a little-known qualifier at Wimbledon, where she upset world No. 1 Martina Hingis before reaching the quarter-finals. The following year, she reached the semifinals of Wimbledon — her best Grand Slam result — but hidden behind the scenes was a dark story that would eventually derail her career. At the height of Dokic's tennis career, Damir made her turn her back on Australia and switch allegiances to Yugoslavia, which saw her booed at the Australian Open by Aussie fans. Her promising career deteriorated, with her father largely to blame, and it was only in recent years that Dokic was able to reveal the true depths of her abuse. 5 Jelena Dokic has spoken out about the abuse she endured from her late father. New York Post Discussing the prospect of motherhood, Dokic spoke bravely about concerns she could replicate some of her upbringing with a child of her own. But the six-time WTA tournament winner had an emphatic response to that possibility. 'Did I at one stage maybe think, I didn't have the best experience, and I know a lot of people with parents and having that childhood and what would that mean for me?' she said. 'Because I know a lot of people who have been through family violence or abuse, domestic violence, however you want to frame it, they are worried about that, whether they would be the same. 5 Jelena Dokic during the Australian Open in January 2023. Getty Images 'But for me, 100 percent certainty, I can say 100 percent, I know I wouldn't be (like my father). 'I love kids and I know even if I were a single mum, to be honest, and I adopted one day, it would have all the love in the world. 'I would love to have a father as well, but I know I can give it absolutely everything and (it) would have all the love and support and I would be completely different. 'That would never, I could never, I could never be (like) that, ever. 'I always said I wanted to have kids, but I want to adopt. So that's a big wish of mine and passion and I hope to do it one day.' Australian tennis icon Jelena Dokic has finally gone public with her new boyfriend Yane Veselinov. The much-loved commentator hard launched the new relationship on Instagram. The couple had previously been photographed together in May, but hadn't confirmed the romance publicly until now. So happy for you xxxx you deserve all the joy and happiness life has to offer,' one fan wrote. 'This makes me so happy! You deserve all the happiness in the world Jelena!' Another said. 'You seem very happy. All the best Jelena x,' another wrote. 'So happy to see you happy,' another said. Dokic was previously in a 19-year relationship with Tin Bikic that ended in 2021. Since then she has rebuilt her life (she has previously stated that she was a mess after their romance ended) and undergone a huge transformation, both mentally and physically. The story about the abuse she suffered from her late father Damir, who died last month, has also been detailed in the series Unbreakable: The Jelena Dokic Story. Dokic, who just wrapped up two weeks of commentating at Wimbledon for Channel 9, recently opened up on her desire to be a mum. Despite her own tumultuous upbringing as a child and a young woman that left her forever mentally scarred, Dokic said she has so much love to give. 'I actually think I would be a good mum, to be honest,' Dokic said on the podcast Mental As Anyone. 'I love kids.' But, despite that, Dokic sadly admits that her parenting dream may never be realised. 'I don't think that that's going to happen for me,' she said. 'I was in a relationship for almost 19 years from the age of 20 and right up to when we split up, we were about to start trying for a family.' Dokic said that the abuse she received throughout her life never crushed her maternal instincts. Surprisingly, she said it might have even nourished them. 'Even 15 years ago, when I was 25, I always said, 'I want to have kids, but I want to adopt',' she said. 'Maybe it comes from when you grow up maybe in a home that's fractured and with pain and you go, maybe I can give something different to a kid that I know maybe will have the same, or they won't have parents or something like that. 'So I always felt like I wanted to do that for at least one kid in the world. 'That's a big kind of wish of mine and passion and I hope to do it one day. 'Did I at one stage maybe think, I didn't have the best experience and know a lot of people with parents and having that childhood and what would that mean for me? 'Because I know a lot people that have been through family violence or abuse, domestic violence, however you want to frame it, they are worried about that, whether they would be the same or if there's something there.' >> Sign up to our daily newsletter to get all the biggest sports stories delivered into your inbox Dokic said she would consider adopting a child, with or without a father. '(But I'd) love it to have a father as well,' she said. 'I know that I can give it absolutely everything and would have all the love and support and I would be completely different and … I could never be that (like my father) ever. 'I know that yes, obviously, it's a challenge, which I would love. I would embrace it and take it on. 'I just love kids so much. I know I would be a bloody good mum and I know I would give it the love in the world of a million people. 'I have so much love to give.'

Aussie tennis star Jelena Dokic's 'very special person' revealed as Melbourne hospitality worker Yane Veselinov

Jelena Dokic has officially gone public with new boyfriend Yane Veselinov after months of speculation about the mystery man. Dokic, 42, took to Instagram on Monday to reveal the identity of her new beau months after published bombshell footage of the pair getting cosy at Melbourne Airport. "You are my calm, safe, peaceful and happy place. So glad I found you," Dokic wrote alongside a romantic snap with her new partner. It can now be revealed that the new love in Jelena's life is a hospitality operations manager who describes himself on Instagram as a "food and wine enthusiast, pleasure seeker and life enjoyer". Dokic stoked speculation about her love life on Sunday after sharing a glimpse of a night out with a mystery date two years on from her shock split from Brazilian-born Tin Bukic. The Aussie tennis great has just wrapped up commentary duties covering the iconic Wimbledon tennis tournament, the same event where she reached the semifinal in 2000 at just 16 years old. This year's tournament saw Poland's Iga Swiatek thrash American Amanda Anisimova in the women's final, while Italy's Jannik Sinner defeated Spain's Carlos Alcaraz in a four-set thriller in the men's tournament. On Sunday, Dokic marked the end of Wimbledon fever by sharing a photo of a cocktail in a ritzy restaurant via her Instagram. 'A little mid Wimbledon drink with a very special person,' the retired tennis great wrote in the caption. The former World No. 4 did not reveal the identity of the 'special person' but her loyal fans flooded the comment section asking if Dokic was back on the dating scene. 'Is this what I think it is! So happy to hear this gorgeous Jelena,' one fan wrote. 'Enjoy your time with someone special.' 'Like the sound of a special person Jelena, enjoy your time together,' a second follower wrote. Dokic split from her previous partner, Bukic, in late 2022 after an almost two-decade-long relationship. She recently opened up on the Mental As Anyone podcast about how the demise of her relationship jeopardised her plans to start a family. 'I was in a relationship for almost 19 years from the age of 20, and right when we split up, we were about to start trying for a family,' Jelena said. 'I actually think I would be a good mum, to be honest; I love kids.' Dokic revealed she was now planning to start a family as a 'single parent' and was open to exploring adoption. 'It is something I would like to do because I love kids,' she said. 'I didn't have the best experience (but) if I was, let's say, a single mum and adopted one day, it would have all the love in the world.'
