BINTANGOR (Aug 3): The annual Women's Day celebration serves as a platform to recognise and honour the vital role of women in nation-building, said Meradong assemblyman Datuk Ding Kuong Hiing.
Speaking at the Meradong District-level 2025 Women's Day celebration held at the Meradong District Office Hall here yesterday, he emphasised that women's contributions to the nation's growth and development are undeniable.
'Women hold a special place in contributing their energy and service to the nation, race, and religion.
'They deserve to be appreciated in every aspect of life because the success of human capital development often begins with the presence of a woman,' he said.
Ding also highlighted the importance of cultivating determination, self-confidence, and a willingness to explore new ventures as crucial qualities for women to excel in today's competitive environment.
'Women must be willing to try new things and never give up. These traits will help them stay ahead and continue contributing to society,' he added.
Ding noted that Women's Day is celebrated globally through various activities aimed at highlighting women's achievements across multiple sectors.
'Internationally, Women's Day is marked on March 8 each year with different themes to recognise women's contributions, and raise awareness of their roles and challenges worldwide,' he said.
'Through celebrations like this, we aim to empower women by sharing information, creating opportunities, and increasing awareness of current issues, particularly those affecting women.'
