Newport: Horse racing consultant avoids driving ban
Tom Malone was clocked travelling at 81mph in a 50mph zone on the M4 motorway along the Malpas Straight in Newport between Junction 28 and Junction 27.
The 42-year-old pleaded guilty to speeding in his Mercedes GLE400 SUV on April 19 last year.
At Cwmbran Magistrates' Court it was put forward that if he received a driving ban he would be 'unable to carry out his employment by travelling to view horses and his employees would suffer if they lost their employment'.
In mitigation it was also said that disqualification could 'have an impact on his four children'.
National Hunt bloodstock agent Malone, of Webb Hill Farm, Heathfield, Taunton, Somerset was ordered to pay £1,057 in a fine, costs and a surcharge.
The former jockey's driving record was endorsed with six penalty points.
