Daytime highs in southern Manitoba and northwestern Ontario will reach the upper 20s and low 30s, with light winds not providing much of a breeze. Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) issued a special air quality statement for northwestern regions, including The Pas, Flin Flon and Lynn Lake, where wildfire smoke is expected to cause poor air quality and reduced visibility at times. Otherwise, most northern regions will be fairly sunny Wednesday, with daytime highs in the low to mid-20s. Ahead Wednesday night, there is the chance of showers or thunderstorms in the northwest and in Churchill in the northeast. Meanwhile, southern regions will be mainly clear tonight, but hazy. The southwest corner around Melita could get clipped by showers before morning. Those showers could reach Brandon during the Thursday morning commute. ECCC said heat warnings could be issued in southern Manitoba starting Thursday into Friday.
