Meta's smartwatch with camera is reportedly being revived — and it could launch this September to work alongside new smart glasses

Remember the Meta Watch that never was? Well, it may be making a comeback, as Meta is reportedly back to developing a smartwatch, and it may launch just in time to compete with the Apple Watch 11. As per a DigiTimes report, Meta is "reviving" its smartwatch plans and developing a new wearable with a potential built-in camera lens, and it's geared to work alongside its upcoming smart glasses — which could be the rumored "Meta Celeste" glasses. Yet again, Meta is looking to include a camera on its rumored smartwatch. A few years ago, it was rumored that its Facebook smartwatch would come with two cameras, but the plans were reportedly scrapped. Now, it appears Meta has reversed course. It's unclear what this camera would be for, but considering that its Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses come with AI features that utilize the camera, the smartwatch could offer similar AI tools — if it also comes equipped with a camera. If Meta is planning to deliver a smartwatch after all, it would stand out from the best smartwatches with its potential camera and link to its rumored smart glasses. Meanwhile, Apple reportedly had plans for an Apple Watch with a camera, utilizing Visual Intelligence, but this was said to be canceled. Whether this feature will give Meta an edge is unclear. Meta appears to have a lot new productrs in the hopper, including its rumored smart glasses, Meta Quest 4 and the recent release of the Oakley Meta HSTN glasses. If a smartwatch is on the way, it shows that Meta is ramping up its selection even more. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. According to the report, the Meta smartwatch may arrive in time for the upcoming Meta Connect event taking place on September 17. However, as spotted by Wccftech, Digitimes also states that it is "unclear" if the smartwatch will launch during the Meta Connect event. There's no telling what Meta will have up its sleeve, but if the smartwatch is set to be paired with an upcoming pair of smart specs, then it could at least be teased at Meta Connect. Only time will tell if Meta really is giving its smartwatch plans another try. And speaking of AI on a watch, check out Apple Watch's new AI fitness coach.

Meta Hypernova leak suggests smart glasses with gesture controls and built-in game

Meta is reportedly working on a new generation of smart glasses under the codename Hypernova, and a recent leak has offered a first glimpse at the upcoming wearable. Shared by tipster Luna on X, the low-resolution image suggests that the device may closely resemble the existing Ray-Ban Meta Glasses in terms of design, albeit with slightly thicker arms and additional embedded sensors. The leak further suggests that Meta plans to launch the glasses under a different moniker, possibly Meta Celeste, stylised as '𝗠𝗲𝘁𝗮 | 𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗲'. Though official specifications remain undisclosed, early details point towards several hardware and control enhancements over previous models. You may be interested in According to the post, the new smart glasses could incorporate a touch-sensitive bar on the left side of the frame, expectedly allowing users to interact with the device using simple finger gestures. A two-finger tap, for instance, might trigger the camera to capture photos or video. Adding a futuristic twist to the control system, Meta is also rumoured to include a companion wearable dubbed the Ceres wristband. This eMG (electromyography) band reportedly uses sensors around the wrist to detect muscle signals, enabling users to control the glasses through intuitive gestures such as pinching or rotating the wrist. Swipe and tap-touch interactions are also said to be supported. Although handwriting recognition is reportedly in testing via the wristband, it may not be ready in time for the product's official launch. Interestingly, the leaked firmware for the smart glasses appears to include a built-in mini-game titled Hypertrail. Inspired by the classic 1981 arcade shooter Galaga, the game hints at Meta's attempt to inject a playful, interactive element into its wearable tech. The smart glasses are expected to run on a heavily modified version of Android and may feature a single display positioned in the lower right corner of the right lens. Pricing is expected to range between $1,000 (approximately ₹ 85,600) and $1,400 (around ₹ 1,19,800) in the United States.

Meta 'Celeste' smart glasses with display revealed in massive leak — and it appears to be launching soon

A massive leak has shown off what looks to be Meta's next pair of smart glasses, offering a first looks at Meta's rumored higher-end AR glasses — and they could arrive sooner than expected. Known leaker Luna on X revealed several photos and videos showcasing Meta's next glasses, which are codenamed "Meta Celeste." The specs also appear to include wristbands known as "Ceres," which can be used to interact with AR environments seen in the AR glasses' display. Recent reports indicated that Meta had a new, high-end pair of smart glasses set to arrive later this year, with Bloomberg's Mark Gurman stating these are called "Hypernova." Now, after datamining through Meta's latest firmware release, the leaker suggest these are those glasses. If accurate, "Meta Celeste" are expected to boast a display at the bottom-right lens that shows information to the user, such as simple apps, notifications and photos taken on the device's camera. As for the "Ceres" wristbands, these will let users control the glasses. This is backed by the videos shown in the leak, as you can see below: Meta Ceres EMG Wristband (FP Recording) 30, 2025 The leaker also uncovered what looks to be text from a video tutorial, which states the following: "Time for some magic! Did you know you can control your glasses display with your hands? Let's learn how. When your band detects a gesture, you'll feel a buzz on your wrist. Let's start by selecting something. Quickly tap your index finger to your thumb and release.' Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. Interestingly, reports previously noted that these wristbands may be shipped with the smart glasses, but the device will also come with "touch controls on the frame's temple." This has been shown in another leaked video, too. The input to capture image/video. 30, 2025 You can see the tutorial mimicking gestures with the wristbands in AR in another video Meta Hypernova/Ceres gestures. 30, 2025 The leaker also showed a closer look at what the glasses and wristband may look like, although these are a tad grainy and look more like models used for marketing material. However, these already appear less clunky than other AR glasses on the market. We also got a glimpse of what appears to be a game called "Hypertrail," according to the leaker, which may involve the user's location and is apparently inspired by "Galaga." Recently, Meta revealed its Oakley's Meta HSTN smart glasses, but its next AR glasses may not be far off considering the leak showcases many tutorial videos for the specs and wristbands. Plus, we've heard that the Meta Quest 4 may be delayed, with a lightweight alternative taking its place instead. Although, this may be another device, seeing as it's meant to arrive in 2026. There's still a lot we have yet to find out about these upcoming Meta glasses, and if accurate, we could see the first step in the evolution of smart glasses if the "Meta Celeste" end up arriving this year. It will have some heavy competition in the Viture next-gen AR glasses and Snap's next Specs, though.
