A FRESH thunderstorm warning has been issued for five counties, with Met Eireann warning "heavy" rain will batter down over the country. They warned: "Heavy showers and a few thunderstorms may cause some disruption, particularly to travel, on Thursday." The warning will kick in from 11am today and will last until 8pm this evening. Thunderstorms are also expected over the Republic of Ireland as we make our way into the weekend. Cathal Nolan from Ireland's Weather Channel said an area of low pressure to the south of the country will push up its associated rain bands across Munster and south Leinster today. But the rain isn't likely to hit the rest of the country, with Nolan confirming the wet conditions will "fizzle out" and push off to the east. He explained: "Any areas, certainly the midlands right the way northwards and eastwards, will see mostly dry and bright conditions [today]. "Especially so for areas like Met Eireann said much of Ulster will remain dry with "warm spells of hazy sunshine" as highest temperatures across the country peak between 17C and 22C.
