Qatar Rail welcomes families to vibrant Back to School event at Sport City Station
Qatar Railways Company (Qatar Rail) kicked off the second edition of the 'Back to School' event yesterday at Sport City Station on the Gold Line of Doha Metro, with the participation of a group of bookstores and school supplies retailers. The event's opening had strong attendance and engagement from visitors and families. The event runs daily until September 2, 2025, with booths welcoming visitors and offering exclusive promotions on school supplies. Families can also enjoy a variety of engaging and interactive activities for children, held from 4 pm to 8 pm on weekdays and from 4 pm to 9 pm on weekends. On this occasion, Mr. Abdulla Ali Al-Mawlawi, Director of Communications and Public Relations at Qatar Rail, said: 'We are pleased to launch the second edition of the 'Back to School' event, which has become an annual occasion eagerly awaited by our customers, including parents and students. This event goes beyond offering special shopping promotions, as it creates an interactive community space that enhances the role of metro stations as vibrant destinations for various occasions throughout the year. Our collaboration with participating bookstores and retailers reflects our ongoing efforts to promote the metro's position as an integral part of daily community life. The event also comes as part of the 'Metro Events' series, which Qatar Rail is keen to organize regularly at metro stations, reaffirming our commitment to transforming the stations into dynamic community hubs while enhancing collaboration with both public and private sector entities.' The opening of the second edition also featured the announcement of the new 365-Day metropass, an annual pass that allows unlimited journeys across both the Doha Metro and Lusail Tram networks, priced at QAR 990. A special promotion was also launched for visitors of the event, enabling them to pre-book the pass at an exclusive 20% discount until August 31, 2025. The participation in the event provides visitors with the opportunity to obtain an Early Bird voucher for the pass exclusively during the event, with collection available from August 19 to 31, 2025. The pass can then be redeemed at any Doha Metro goldclub office or Lusail Tram ticketing office between September 1 and 30, 2025, with the original voucher required at the time of purchase. On the sidelines of the opening, Qatar Rail hosted a student delegation from Tomoh for Community Development at the second edition of the 'Back to School' event. The participants enjoyed the various activities accompanying the event and were also given a detailed overview of the services offered across the network and the role of the metro in providing a reliable and sustainable travel experience. Qatar Rail invites all members of the community to visit Sport City Station and take part in this event, which combines shopping, entertainment, and the metro experience in a family-friendly vibes. This event is part of the 'Metro Events' series, which Qatar Rail organises for the public at metro stations throughout the year. The initiative is a key pillar of the company's long-term strategic plan to transform metro stations into vibrant destinations and thriving communities, fostering active engagement with the public, enhancing collaboration with both public and private sector partners, and creating greater opportunities for building long-term strategic partnerships. The event, hosted at the Sport City Station on the metro's Gold Line, offers the public and customers an opportunity to explore exclusive offers from bookstores and retailers specialising in school supplies as the new school academic year approaches. Additionally, several retail spaces within Sport City Station have been allocated to bookstores to display their various promotional products amongst other retailers offering school supplies and related items, available daily from 10 am to 10 pm. As part of the event, from 4 pm to 8 pm on weekdays and from 4 pm to 9 pm during weekends, a range of free activities will be offered for children and families. These include an interactive gaming zone, painting, colouring, and art experiences, along with various competitions and challenges, in collaboration with Qatar Rail partners, offering opportunities to win valuable prizes. On the sidelines of the event, Qatar Rail will announce the new 365-Day metropass – an annual pass priced at QR 990 that offers customers unlimited journeys across the Doha Metro and Lusail Tram networks.
