Israel delivered Patriot systems to Ukraine
Patriot air defence systems that previously protected Israel's airspace have been deployed in Ukraine. Source: Israeli Ambassador to Ukraine Michael Brodsky in an interview with Ukrainian journalist Mariia Dovbenko, as reported by Mezha Media, a technology and IT news platform within Ukrainska Pravda's holding company Quote from Brodsky: "There is a system very well known here in Ukraine – the Patriot system – which once saved us in the early 1990s during the first Gulf War. Back then, we received Patriot systems from the United States. And, by the way, these systems are now in Ukraine. These are Israeli systems that were in service in Israel in the early 1990s. We agreed to transfer them to Ukraine. Unfortunately, this has not been widely discussed, but when people say that Israel hasn't provided military aid, that's not true." Details: In May 2024, it was reported that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) would stop using the American-made Patriot air defence systems. They are being replaced by systems based on more advanced technologies. Ukraine has repeatedly appealed to its partners for Patriot systems to defend against large-scale Russian attacks. These systems have proven highly effective, particularly in intercepting Russian Kinzhal hypersonic missiles. In May 2023, a Patriot system successfully intercepted the first Kinzhal missile over Kyiv – a turning point in Ukraine's defence against this type of Russian weapon. The effective use of Patriots strengthened the air defence of Ukrainian cities. However, Ukraine still faces a shortage of such systems. Background: In April 2025, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine was ready to purchase 10 Patriot systems from the United States for US$15 billion, with European partners willing to support the financing. In May 2025, The New York Times reported that a Patriot system previously based in Israel would be sent to Ukraine after undergoing modernisation. Support Ukrainska Pravda on Patreon!

Ukrainian troops destroy Russian stronghold using new 100 kg projectile
A new type of weapon from a member of Brave1, a cluster for the development of military technologies in Ukraine, has been tested at the front. Source: Brave1 on Facebook; Mezha Media, a technology and IT news platform within Ukrainska Pravda's holding company Details: The cluster has not disclosed the characteristics or development potential of the technology. However, it noted that during testing, a Russian stronghold was destroyed using a projectile weighing over 100 kg. Brave1 confirmed to Mezha Media that the munition was Ukrainian-made. Brave1 also added that it had tested the weapon on the Kherson front together with the manufacturer and a military unit. "We will not disclose details, but this is just the beginning. Soon, we will have more solutions that the enemy will experience," the cluster said in a statement. Background: In May, Brave1 announced the launch of Brave1 Chat, a platform for fast and secure exchange of information on defence technologies with the military. Support Ukrainska Pravda on Patreon!

Ukrainian Buntar-3 vertical take-off drone will go into mass production
The Buntar-3 is a reconnaissance system developed by Ukrainian defence tech company Buntar Aerospace which has been tested in real combat on the Bryansk, Belgorod, Kupiansk, Lysychansk, Pokrovsk, Kurakhove and Svatove fronts. Source: Mezha Media, a technology and IT news platform within Ukrainska Pravda's holding company Details: Buntar Aerospace explained that the reconnaissance system functions as an integrated solution – from mission planning to analysis – with a single control interface through proprietary software. The Buntar-3 reconnaissance system. Photo: Buntar Aerospace Quote from Buntar Aerospace: "Buntar-3 is not just a separate drone, but a complete system. At its core is a proprietary Copilot – a 'combat assistant' for the operator. It forecasts mission scenarios, helps avoid errors in stressful conditions, calculates flight sequences and ensures continuous coverage and centralised transmission from multiple cameras. All controls are contained in a single interface that can simultaneously manage multiple drones." Details: Key characteristics of the Buntar-3 reconnaissance system include: 3.5 hours of flight time; 80 km tactical range; target detection up to 15 km away; operation without GPS; resistance to electronic warfare; vertical take-off and landing capability. "The modern battlefield is dynamic, where everything changes – signals, electronic warfare modes, tactics," the Ukrainian company added. "The architecture of Buntar-3 allows for rapid adaptation of both the hardware and the Copilot software to specific unit requirements." The Buntar-3 reconnaissance system. Generate Key Takeaways The official website of the ZBROYARI initiative, the Manufacturing Freedom initiative, mentioned the US investment in purchasing Ukrainian arms. This initiative collects information on all donations from Western partners for the purchase of products from Ukrainian defence plants. Source: Mezha Media, a technology and IT news platform within Ukrainska Pravda's holding company Details: The announcement of a US$764 million investment by the United States in purchasing Ukrainian weapons appeared in March, without an accompanying press release. The source of the Oboronka publication, which is involved in the ZBROYARI initiative, said that such agreements with the Americans do exist and relate to long-range weapons in particular. Screenshot: The official website of the ZBROYARI initiative: Manufacturing Freedom initiative Background: Thanks to the involvement of all key government agencies and armed associations in raising funds from Western partners for domestic defence, more than US$1.5 billion was raised for contracting Ukrainian plants in 2024 alone. Denmark became the first sponsor, but now the initiative involves nine countries that invest either their own funds or income from frozen Russian assets. Earlier, Andrius Kubilius, European Commissioner for Defence and Space, said the EU could double its military aid to Ukraine in 2025 by placing a large order with our factories, which produce weapons at half the cost of Western defence corporations. Photo reveals Ukrainian sea drone that downed Russian Su-30 fighter
The first image of the Ukrainian uncrewed surface vessel (USV) that shot down a Russian Su-30 fighter jet over the Black Sea has been posted by Naval News, a military news platform focused on global naval developments. The vessel was identified as a new Magura V7 drone, equipped with two US-supplied AIM-9 Sidewinder air-to-air missiles. This marks the first time in history that a surface drone has successfully brought down a combat aircraft. Source: Mezha Media, a technology and IT news platform within Ukrainska Pravda's holding company Details: The Magura V7 is an upgraded version of the previously used Magura V5, which had been deployed in attacks on Russian naval targets. The V7 is approximately 8 metres long—compared to the 5.5 metres of the V5—and features enhanced design modifications that enable it to operate in rough sea conditions. The drone is equipped with advanced communication antennas and navigation sensors to maintain control over extended distances. Two AIM-9 Sidewinder air-to-air missiles are mounted on special launch rails on the drone and are believed to be capable of being elevated for launch. These missiles reportedly have a maximum range of up to 10 km. Last year, Ukraine's Defence Intelligence stated that Magura drones also use Soviet-era R-73 air-to-air missiles with infrared homing systems. This successful engagement shows that the Magura V7 is not only effective in naval warfare but has now become a serious aerial threat to Russian forces, marking a new chapter in drone-based combat.
