Notre Dame football loses a potential offensive line starter for the rest of the spring

Notre Dame football loses a potential offensive line starter for the rest of the spring Watch LIVE as Coach Marcus Freeman steps to the podium just a week away from the Blue-Gold game. #GoIrish☘️ — Notre Dame Football (@NDFootball) April 5, 2025 For the most part, Notre Dame football has stayed injury free during its spring practices, with the only major injury occurring to wide receiver Micah Gilbert, however, that changed on Saturday. Irish head coach Marcus Freeman had another disappointing injury update, as he shared that offensive tackle Guerby Lambert will miss the rest of the spring after having shoulder surgery to correct a lorn labrum. The rising sophomore played in a few games during his first year, but mostly on special teams. Lambert was expected to compete for one of the five starting positions, but that won't be the case this spring. The good news is that his season isn't in jeopardy, as Freeman did also mention that he should be full-go when fall camps rolls around. That is great news, as Notre Dame will hopefully have the former top-50 prospect according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings ready to contribute in another College Football Playoff run. Notre Dame football loses wide receiver Micah Gilbert for the spring due to an injury

Notre Dame football loses wide receiver Micah Gilbert for the spring due to an injury There were bound to be spring injuries, and for the most part Notre Dame football has avoided them until Wednesday. Mike Berardino of the South Bend Tribune posted on social media that redshirt freshman wide receiver Micah Gilbert broke his right hand on the first practice of spring. It clearly took a while for the news to be released, but he was expected to make a second-year jump after coming into the program as a 4-star prospect according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings. While he didn't make a catch during his first season with the Irish, he's one of the bigger targets on the roster. Hopefully, this is just a minor setback in what could be a breakout season for Gilbert. Notre Dame does have two projected starters in Jaden Greathouse and Malachi Fields. There will be opportunities for Jordan Faison, Will Pauling, Cam Williams and others, so it's very unfortunate that Gilbert suffered this setback.
