Michael Bublé Talks How Adam David Overcame the Odds To Win 'The Voice' Season 27 (Exclusive)
Adam David overcame a lot to become the winner of Season 27 of The Voice. Statistically, the odds were against him. There have only been two other one-chairs turns who have won: Jake Hoot and Chris Blue. But Chris almost doesn't count in that sense because he was the last artist added that season and only Alicia Keys had a spot on her team, so it wasn't as if anyone else could have turned for him. But Kelly Clarkson turned for Jake, and she was proven right. As was Michael Bublé tonight with Adam. Adam is also only the second person to receive the "Instant Save" to go on to win the competition. The first was Bryce Leatherwood, who, funnily enough, returned to the finale to perform his new single 'God Made.' 'I am going to tell you right now, I have nothing to do with it,' the winning coach told Parade, trying to downplay his role in Adam's win. 'Zero. We're friends. I'm not his coach; I'm not his teacher. He's a killer musician. He knows exactly what he's doing. He has all the talent and ambition in the world. I think more than anything, he needed a partner, a friend to help sometimes lift him up when he was having doubts.' 🎤 SIGN UP for our The Voice newsletter to get access to exclusive news, interviews, insider info, sneak peeks & more🎤 Those doubts earlier also led Adam to struggle with addiction, but he sought help and ultimately found recovery. Now five years clean, he credits music as a steady anchor in his life, helping him process emotions and maintain stability. And it was his years of dedication to music that attracted Michael when he heard Adam's voice. 'No joke, I remember distinctly there being about 15 or 10 seconds left on the clock as Adam's Blind Audition song ['Baby I Love Your Way'] was winding down and I was saying to the other coaches, 'Please don't turn, don't turn.' I didn't want him to get stolen. Then, when it happened, the second I got him, I ran backstage and I said, 'I just got my guy on my team.'' And it was obvious all season watching Michael's interactions with Adam that he was a huge fan of the 34-year-old musician from Fort Lauderdale, FL. But rather than take credit for Adam's success, Michael continues to share the credit, but with voters. Related: 'America has great taste,' Michael said. 'They really do. America is who gave us this music. They're the ones who culturally gave us the greatest gifts in not only music but cinema and art. And the fact that they can recognize what I heard in that turn just gives me deeper faith in them and how good they are, how smart they are, how much integrity came with every one of those votes. The thing that I am tripping out about more than anything is knowing how important those people feel about their vote. It's not thrown away. It gives you confidence in your own taste.' Michael is the only judge from Season 27 who will be returning for Season 28. He is looking forward to working with a new group of coaches, who will also include Reba McEntire, Snoop Dogg and Niall Horan. 'I'm going to show up and revel in being friends with these people and get some great artists again,' Michael said, wrapping up. The Voice Season 28 will return to NBC in Fall 2025.

'The Voice' season 27 winner revealed: 'It was a real surreal moment'
This is The Voice for season 27, as voted on by viewers: blues rocker Adam David, from Team Michael Bublé. When his name was announced, the 34-year-old from Fort Lauderdale, Fla., looked genuinely stunned. After all, he almost wasn't even there, but he won the Instant Save during the live semifinals. With the exception of Bublé, each of the celebrity coaches — also including Kelsea Ballerini, John Legend, and Adam Levine — had just one contestant left from their teams in the finals. They were Team Kelsea's country crooner Jaelen Johnston, who placed second; Team Legend's soulful rocker Renzo, who placed third; and Team Adam's genre-defying Lucia Flores-Wiseman, who won fourth. The "Home" singer had two contestants, David and pop singer Jadyn Cree. Bublé won last season in his first outing as a coach, so with David's win, the Canadian coach's streak continues. Cree, the daughter of The Voice alum Bryan Olsen, who finished third on the show when he represented Team Legend in the finals back in 2024, placed fifth. She had said Monday that her dad very much wanted her to beat him, but that wasn't to be. The revelation ended a star-studded, two-hour concert that featured coaches performing with their contestants. They had trimmed their initial teams of super talented stars-in-the-making from 12 to one (or two) over the past three months. There was a time when Ballerini even "felt queasy."Other celebrated performers, including coaches from past seasons or international versions of the show, took the stage, too. They included Alicia Keys and Amanda Reid, Blake Shelton, Kelly Clarkson, Chance the Rapper, Joe Jonas, Foreigner, James Bay and Sheryl Crow (a mega mentor this season), and Bryce Leatherwood, who won the show in 2022. Bublé will return to the show again next season, where he will sit alongside veteran coaches Niall Horan, Reba McEntire, and Snoop Dogg. The Voice season 28 premieres this fall. In the meantime, Entertainment Weekly caught up with David after his win and found out what the experience — and the win — meant to him. ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: What is the first thing you did after hearing the good news? ADAM DAVID: Everyone rushed the stage, and I was just hugging every single person, every contestant. It could have easily been anybody, and everyone's so amazing, and it was a real surreal moment. Do you remember exactly when you realized this was possible? I hoped and I prayed. I don't think I gave myself the opportunity to believe that it wasn't going to happen, but I was ready. Even when I got called to do my Instant Save, I felt like — going up against Olivia, Bryson, and Iris, I really felt like I was going home. They're so amazing and to have made it through that was a victory. And then to have made it to the end and then to top three and then to top two, is a rush. Which of your performances do you think best encompasses you as an artist? I think that the Allen Stone song ["Unaware"] that I did and "Hard Fought Hallelujah" felt really authentic to me. I loved the Joe Cocker, "You Are So Beautiful." I love that song. But I think those two are probably the kind of music that I tend to put out. What will you miss most about your time on ? I'm going to miss my friends. I'm going to miss the other contestants. It's kind of like a shared trauma going through something like this. We all got really close. We all got really, really close, and it's a really special thing to go through this with people, and I think I've made some friends for life. I'm going to have to make a lot of effort to stay connected with them. What does this win mean to you? I want to talk about my recovery for just a second, because this win isn't just for me, it's for the people that I got clean with. It's for all the people that I attend meetings with. It's for anybody that's struggling. They say when you get clean, you can have a life beyond your wildest dreams. And I'm a testament to that right now. And I wouldn't be here if I didn't make that decision a little over six years ago, and I want people to know that, because anyone that's struggling to get a day clean, I want them to know that it's possible and just one day at a time.
