Terence Stamp: from arthouse icon to blockbuster villain
His bold, decades-long career swung between big productions Michael Cimino's "The Sicilian" to independent films such as Stephen Frears's "The Hit" or Steven Soderbergh's "The Limey". An emblem of London's "Swinging Sixties", he showed off a magnetic screen presence from his earliest roles, immediately gaining awards and fans. He made his breakthrough in 1962 playing an angelic sailor hanged for killing one of his crewmates in Peter Ustinov's "Billy Budd", earning an Oscar nomination and a Golden Globe. He would also win best male actor at Cannes in 1965 for "The Collector", a twisted love story based on a John Fowles novel. Stamp was born in London on July 22, 1938. His father stoked ship boilers and his family of seven crammed into a tenement with no bathroom in east London. In later interviews, he would recount experiencing hunger during his childhood, as well as facing problems at school because of his working-class accent. Discovered by Fellini Inspired by Gary Cooper and James Dean, he dreamed of being an actor from an early age and left home at 17 -- taking a scholarship to a drama school against his father's wishes. In the early 1960s, British cinema began to take an interest in the working class and Ken Loach hired Stamp for his first film, "Poor Cow" in 1967. His meeting with Italian director Federico Fellini that same year was decisive. While searching for "the most decadent English actor" for his segment of "Spirits of the Dead", Fellini cast Stamp as a drunk actor seduced by the devil in the guise of a little girl. Another Italian director, Pier Paolo Pasolini, cast him in 1969's "Theorem" as an enigmatic outsider who seduces the members of a bourgeois Milan family. But Stamp's scandalous roles fell out of fashion and he struggled to find work for a decade. He embarked on a mystical world tour and settled in India, where he was studying in an ashram in 1977 when his agent got in touch and offered him the role of General Zod in "Superman". From 'Priscilla' back to hard men His career took off again and he soon became a go-to face for Hollywood directors looking for British villains. The role of Bernadette in "Priscilla" came in the mid-1990s, just as he was growing weary of those Hollywood hardmen roles. A few years later though, he returned to familiar stomping ground for the "The Limey", playing a British ex-con who travels to California to find out who killed his daughter. Director Steven Soderbergh used scenes from "Poor Cow" that capture Stamp in his dazzling years as a sixties English beauty. One of his last films, Last Night in Soho (2021), was a supernatural thriller in which a teenager was haunted by characters from London's Swinging Sixties -- bringing Stamp full circle on a dazzling career.

‘Motorheads' series review: A flashy ride with unfinished roads
In Ironwood, there are two types of people: those who hit the brakes, and those who hit the gas. That's the ethos at the heart of John A Norris' Motorheads on Prime Video. A teen drama set against the backdrop of a dying town and illegal street racing scene, it sounds like something we have seen before, and to some extent, it is. But there are moments, visually and thematically, where the show edges towards new territories. Norris, best known for his work on All American (2018), swaps football fields for back-alley racetracks, but his usual focus on teenage identity and legacy is still prevalent. The cast, made up of lesser-known faces, does a commendable job with their respective characters. Ryan and Deacon Phillippe bring an earnestness that helps ground the sometimes chaotic narrative. Motorheads (English) Creator: John A. Norris Cast: Ryan Phillipe, Deacon Phillipe, Michael Cimino, Melissa Collazo, Uriah Shelton & Others Episodes: 10 Runtime: 50-55 minutes Storyline: As their town crumbles, a group of teenagers dive into street racing, where high stakes and personal conflicts go full throttle Set in a crumbling suburban town in Pennsylvania, the series follows twins Caitlyn (Melissa Collazo) and Zac Torres (Michael Cimino) who move to Ironwood – a town their parents grew up in. While Caitlyn starts restoring their father's old Dodge Charger, Zac gets roped into the street racing scene that once defined his father's legacy. Just like their father and uncle, the twins seem to carry different pieces of the past: Caitlyn with a sharp instinct for building and mechanics, like her uncle, and Zac stepping into his father's shoes behind the wheel. The subplot of rebuilding the Dodge Charger works well as a metaphor. It mirrors their desire to rebuild a life in a new town, a fractured family and a connection to the past that lingers on in Ironwoods' streets. The show leans into visual duality: parallels between generations, choices made then and now, and between two siblings charting different courses through the same inherited world. In this sense, the cinematic structure is one of the biggest strengths. The sequences and flashbacks are vividly cut and some of the racing visuals – especially the bank heist car rollout – are striking and well-paced. Where Motorheads falters though is in its lack of depth. For all the talk of a 'dying town', there is minimal narrative weight given to its decline or even a comparison factor to emphasise on the fact that it was dying. The town is treated more like a dramatic canvas than a lived-in world. The street racing culture, while glamorised, isn't explored very deeply. There is thrill, yes, but very little sense of community, danger or real subcultural grit. Caitlyn's almost magical ability to outperform seasoned mechanics feels like a narrative shortcut more than a believable character arc. The most jarring plotline may be the sheriff's: an ex-con posing as a lawman 'attempting' to turn his life around while enabling his son's criminal activities. The presence of corruption isn't as jarring, but the lack of interrogation around it is, creating a vague ethical tension. With motorsport slowly revving back into public attention in India due to racing ventures being explored and popular actors like Ajith Kumar returning to racing, shows like Motorheads may find a growing audience. It's not groundbreaking television, but it offers just enough momentum to keep viewers buckled in for the ride. Motorheads is streaming on Prime Video

The Latest Update About ‘Motorheads' Season 2 On Amazon Prime Video
Motorheads You may have seen the series Motorheads floating around Amazon Prime Video's top ten list the last few weeks, and even if it rarely, if ever, hit the top spot, it's been a successful series both critically and among audiences. Now, we have at least some amount of information about the status of season 2. Motorheads doesn't have many reviews in to land its 75% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes, but it has a very promising 92% audience score, indicating fans liked what they saw, and that may be a sign they watched the 10-episode series all the way through. So, season 2? The last update we have is promising on one hand, somewhat perilous on the other. Motorheads creator John A. Norris told a fan what was happening on Twitter: User: "New fan, keep the show going please lol don't just one season us…love brother" John A. Norris: "Thanks! Fingers crossed. Season two is written." Past that, Norris also talked about a potential story development that will happen in the second season: Other cast members have talked about how the show ends on a somewhat maddening cliffhanger, especially if it does not return. Here's star Michael Cimino: And star Melissa Collazo: And we know she does, in fact, start driving, according to the showrunner who has already written that episode. Motorheads It's not unusual for cast members to express interest in returning for a second season. I mean, obviously. What is unusual is to have an entire second season written before renewal by a streaming service, as that's a fairly big risk if you do not already have a deal in place. But I suppose that's how passionate Norris is about the project. The problem is that these updates are from May, and there have not been that many new developments since then, and things are all quiet on Amazon's end. It's not late enough to start worrying, as these things can take time, a month, or even multiple months, but I'm feeling pretty positive about things given its performance, reception and the fact that it could start filming right away with a script already in place.
