Library temporarily adjusts hours following security incident
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — The Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County announced Monday that it will temporarily adjust the hours at one of its branches following an internal review of security measures after an incident two weeks ago.
As a follow-up to the security incident involving a person with a sword that occurred on July 25, the Michael Kusalaba Library will temporarily operate under adjusted hours to ensure 'enhanced staffing' during peak times.
The updated schedule is as follows:
Monday & Tuesday: 9 a.m. – 8 p.m.
Wednesday – Saturday: 9 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
This temporary change is intended to increase staff presence during high-traffic periods, according to a release from the library. At this time, the duration of the updated schedule has yet to be determined.
'PLYMC will evaluate the effectiveness of these revised hours and decide on their continuation later,' the library release states.
The library says it will also conduct a comprehensive, system-wide security review across all locations.
