Plans for ‘high quality' Cavan housing development given the green light
Rahardrum, on the outer fringes of Virginia, will provide the backdrop for six semi-detached four bedroom homes alongside an equal number of slightly smaller three bedroom equivalents.
Designs for the plans had originally been submitted last December on behalf of applicant Michael O'Donoghue.
A design statement tabled at the time detailed how the proposed development presented an 'ideal location' for a new low density residential development in the area.
'The proposal comprises two different house types that would accommodate different living circumstances, meaning that a more diverse range of people could be catered for in this new neighbourhood,' the statement read.
Located less than 2km from Virginia's main street, architects contended how its proximity to a raft of local services including shops and restaurants were further positive factors behind its submission.
Each house was also designed to allow for a driveway to its front in order to cater for two cars.
The plans, were likewise furnished with a Natura Impact Statement (NIS) for local authority planning officials to consider.
Cavan County Council have now granted permission to the plans, subject to 32 conditions.
