Kaizer Chiefs striker targets remain elusive, but there's hope

Kaizer Chiefs are still struggling to land their top striker targets this transfer window. After missing out on Fiston Mayele and Michael Olunga, the club is under pressure to bring in reliable attacking firepower ahead of the new season. Both Mayele and Olunga were high on Kaizer Chiefs' wishlist, but the financial demands proved too steep. The duo remains out of reach, despite efforts from the Chiefs technical team. This ongoing struggle is adding to fan anxiety, especially after rivals Orlando Pirates completed multiple key signings. Kaizer Chiefs may not have their dream striker, but the club has turned to youth for a solution. Naledi Hlongwane, a promising forward from the DDC side, has been promoted to the senior squad. It's a bold move, one that reflects both the club's faith in its academy and its limited options in the market. Flavio Silva remains the only experienced striker added so far. The Portuguese forward has shown glimpses of potential, but many supporters remain unconvinced he can carry the team's scoring burden alone. Etiosa Ighodaro is another name linked to the club, but there's been no official progress on that front. Kaizer Chiefs marketing director Jessica Motaung addressed the situation: 'The technical team is working closely to find the right players. It's not just about rushing — it's about getting it right for the long term.' Fans are calling for action, not patience. With the Toyota Cup around the corner, many are hoping to see at least one or two fresh faces don the gold and black. If Kaizer Chiefs are serious about reclaiming their status at the top, now is the time to act. Let us know by leaving a comment below, or send a WhatsApp to 060 011 021 1. Al Arabi acquire Olunga from Al Duhail

Al Arabi have acquired Kenyan striker Michael Olunga on a two-year contract, marking the centerpiece of an aggressive Qatar Stars League summer transfer window. The 31-year-old joins as a free agent after his contract with Al Duhail expired. Olunga has scored 130 goals for Duhail and won five titles in four seasons. He is joined by new signings Pablo Sarabia, a Spanish forward, and goalkeeper Youssef Hassan. Al Arabi is also bolstering its squad by bringing back young talents Al Hashemi Al Hussein and Salem Reda from loan spells in Spain. To prepare for the upcoming season, the team will travel to Valencia, Spain, for a pre-season camp under coach Pablo Amo from July 15 to August 3.

'He left a clear mark on the club's history through his decisive goals and contributions to the first football team.' Olunga joined the Qatari side from Japan's Kashiwa Reysol in January 2021 and hit the ground running. During his time in Qatar, he attracted several teams, including Kaizer Chiefs however, the Kenyan striker remained with the Qatari team until 2025.
