Braves trade 6-foot-7 flamethrower to NL East rival
The Atlanta Braves are probably out of the NL East race at this point, barring a miracle.
The same can be said for the Miami Marlins.
On Wednesday, they made a trade together anyway.
The Braves sent righty reliever Michael Petersen to the Marlins for cash considerations.
Miami optioned Petersen to Triple-A Jacksonville.
Petersen pitched 6.2 innings for the Braves before being designated for assignment. In that time, he allowed three runs and struck out five.
At Triple-A Gwinnett this season, Petersen has a 3.13 ERA.

Petersen also pitched for the Marlins last season, appearing in 5.2 innings of work and giving up three earned runs.
The Braves got rid of the tall righty who throws 97 as they continue to shuffle around their bullpen in a lost season.
The Marlins probably figured it couldn't hurt to bring back a pitcher with some very positive traits.
