Man dead after striking utility pole in Sterling, state police investigate
STERLING, Conn. (WTNH) — A man died on Thursday after striking a utility pole in Sterling Wednesday evening, according to state police.
State police say the victim, Michael Ryan Theriault, 42, of Moosup, was extracted from the car by a passerby, taken by ambulance to a local hospital and then transported by LIFESTAR to Hartford Hospital where he died due to his injuries.
Police investigating robbery at Liberty Bank in New Haven
Theriault was driving a Nissan Altima south around 6:47 p.m. on Ekonk Hill Road in Sterling and ran off the roadway before striking a utility pole. The car came to an uncontrolled final rest in a ditch and burst into flames. He was removed from the car before it combusted, according to authorities.
State police are investigating the crash.
