If acquitted, could Diddy rebound? TMZ's Harvey Levin weighs in
(NewsNation) — Harvey Levin hedges a little when asked whether Sean 'Diddy' Combs could rebound and flourish professionally if a jury were to acquit him in his sex trafficking and racketeering trial. The TMZ executive producer said there are precedents of celebrities who have fallen from grace, only to find success after scandals or prison sentences. Among them: lifestyle maven Martha Stewart, quarterback Michael Vick and late pop star Michael Jackson. 'It is easy to take a snapshot,' Levin told 'Banfield' on Friday. 'I've just seen things turn out way different than what you would think at the end of a saga like this.' Ex-mobster Michael Franzese on Diddy trial: 'We didn't beat up women' He added: 'I'm not going to say there's any resurrection for Diddy if he is found not guilty. I'm not going to say that. All I'm saying is I've just been surprised so much in this job.' Diddy is accused of coercing and threatening women and staging marathon sexual 'Freak Offs,' and jurors have seen infamous 2016 surveillance video of Combs attacking his then-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura. Although the testimony at times has been harrowing, Levin said the music mogul may benefit from the trial not being televised. Also complicating the calculus, he said, is the political comeback of Donald Trump, who was convicted of felony crimes last year before being elected to a second term as president. 'People get written off all the time,' Levin said. 'There was this thing with cancel culture, where you looked the wrong way and you were gone. The pendulum has swung now.' Michael Vick's real legacy is being rewritten at Norfolk State, not through soundbites in Brett Favre's documentary
Michael Vick seeks redemption through mentorship, while Brett Favre remains unscathed despite serious allegations, exposing double standards in sports accountability. (Getty Images) In the grand narrative of NFL history, few names shine as brightly—and as controversially—as Michael Vick and Brett Favre. Both electrified the league in their own ways. Vick, with his unmatched athleticism, changed the very blueprint of a quarterback. Favre, meanwhile, became a symbol of grit and bravado, earning a Super Bowl ring and multiple MVPs with his relentless gunslinger approach. But when it comes to public accountability and the fallout from personal missteps, their paths couldn't be more different. Michael Vick's transformation through coaching eclipses his criticism of Brett Favre's documentary moments The Netflix documentary UNTOLD: The Fall of Favre dares to explore this contrast, bringing uncomfortable truths into the spotlight. One of the most candid voices in the film is that of Michael Vick himself, who doesn't shy away from addressing what he sees as a deeply flawed system. 'People go to jail for stealing money every day. If it's that important, the right institutions can get involved. But, you know, some people are untouchable in certain ways, and that's just the way it is. I just think that's kinda how the system is rigged. You know, some situations have to be played out in court. Some have to be played out in the public,' Vick said during the interview, visibly frustrated. Vick knows this firsthand. At just 27, in the prime of his career, he served 21 months in federal prison for his role in a dogfighting ring. He admitted his wrongdoing, took the fall, and paid a steep price—both professionally and personally. Despite the setback, Vick returned to the NFL, re-earned public trust, and is now shaping lives off the field as the head coach at Norfolk State University , an HBCU where he's helping young athletes find their own footing in life and football. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Switch to UnionBank Rewards Card UnionBank Credit Card Apply Now Undo Favre, meanwhile, finds himself embroiled in serious allegations involving the misuse of $5 million in welfare funds—money that was allegedly redirected to build a volleyball facility at the University of Southern Mississippi, his daughter's alma mater. No criminal charges have been brought against him yet. Nor have the disturbing past allegations involving inappropriate texts and photos sent to former sports broadcaster Jennifer Sterger led to any meaningful consequences. The disparity is hard to ignore. Vick, who emerged from the streets of Virginia and wasn't born into the media-darling mold, bore the full brunt of the law and public outrage. Favre, the golden boy from Mississippi, has largely remained untouchable despite the gravity of his controversies. Their lone playoff encounter back in 2002, when Vick led the Falcons to a 27–7 upset win at Lambeau Field, was symbolic. On the field, Vick bested Favre in his own house. Today, off the field, he continues to rewrite his legacy—not for fame, but for the future of the young men he mentors. For Michael Vick, redemption is a living journey. For Brett Favre, judgment—if it comes at all—remains on hold. One story is still unfolding with hope and purpose. The other lingers in the shadows, waiting for accountability.
